All the ads for it here on the Verizon website display it in the metallic or ceramic craft finish. The BestBuy website is taking pre-orders and NONE of their Verizon selections comes in leather. They display an additional metal-looking version in "deep blue," but no leather. Given the enthusiasm for the leather-back version, I'm confused as to why Verizon would choose to market the other "backs" instead.

Well, Verizon usually has to do something different than all the other carriers. Reference the LG G2. BUT, it's still early so let's wait a bit closer to release time.
I'm still miffed about the G2 design. That wasn't the only thing changed on the Vzw variant though. Some software, as usual, was omitted. Finding accessories for it was brutal. (Otterbox kept sending the international/all other version of the case with each warranty replacement)
Originally when BB first listed the G4 for preorder verizon was shown as having the black available. On the T-Mobile page is shows that brown (or rust) color is a T-Mobile exclusive, but Sprint's page appears to have it as well. T-Mobile just posted that they will be including a 128GB card and shipping starts tomorrow (27May). I'm feeling like verizon really wants me to leave after 15 years of business.
Verizon probably could not figure out a cheap way to slap its tacky logo all over the leather. Fortunately, Amazon seems to have a wide selction of really cool cases.
Thanks. I've marked this question as "answered," referencing your comment as the answer. The brown leather is the color that caught my attention, since that is the one all the reviewers are holding, but I think I'll prefer the black. Given a leather option for just about anything else, I usually pick black.
