unknown downloads

my lg g3, running android version 6.0, has begun downloading unknown files almost every night between 11pm -12am. avg scans show all apps are secure and no viruses, etc., found. when i click the file from the peek bar it doesn't show a name or allow the download to be stopped. turning off wifi and/or rebooting only turns off the download until wifi reconnects. there is no record of these downloads in file manager or the download folder. also, it's not app updates because they all require permission. any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Could it be a system update that is downloading?  That file will not shown up the downloads folder.

i wondered about system updates but they normally come through as verizon updates (whether it's the android update or a hardware update) and this is coming through as a plain "file download". that's why i'm worried. there's no identification at all and the about section in settings doesn't show any updates to the phone or the os since march.

It could also be an additional file needed for a game or application that is downloaded after the initial update to the application is installed and the additional file starts downloading when you open the application.

Unwanted downloads is definitely concerning, turtlesong. Lets figure this out together. Did you recently download any new applications? When did this start?

We want to help you get to the bottom of this. Do these downloads happen at a specific time every day? Are you connected to WIFI?

I recently changed my settings in their playstore to update my apps automatically.

Have you checked in play store?
