LTE Home Internet Signal Issue

I have LTE Home Internet. It works but only if I put the internet gateway in the attic near a window. That isn't an issue but it will be in the summer because of the heat (the attic is not climate controlled). My signal strength in the rest of my home is 1-2 bars of cell signal strength (observed on our phones) and the gateway won't stay connected (even next to a window). I contacted support via chat about this issue and they recommended a Verizon LTE Network Extender (https://www.verizon.com/products/verizon-lte-network-extender/). But I don't think I should have to pay for that to improve my signal when the signal is poor for all my cell devices. Is there any other recourse? I've seen posts where customers were sent the extenders free of charge.

Hello, there! It's important that you are able to place your LTE Home Internet router in a better location, especially in the summer. We'd be happy to work with you at that time, so your service improves once it is moved. As for the Network Extender, if Verizon finds that your signal in your home is not good, the device is free of charge, but it has to be offered on your account. Let's have a look at your account now to see what we have available. We'll be sending you a Private Note shortly.

I have tried the gateway in all rooms with windows. 2-3 bars is the best I can get and that was in my attic.
