I did this sequence and I am at a loss what to do. Hours and hours for something so simple.
Given that your router recognizes the Xbox and labels it correctly without requiring manual setup, it suggests that the network settings might have been configured automatically through UPnP or DHCP reservation. Here are a few steps to try to resolve the NAT issue while leveraging the existing automatic configuration:
### Steps to Ensure Proper Network Configuration:
1. **Verify UPnP Settings:**
- **Log into your router’s interface**.
- Navigate to **Advanced Settings** or **Network Settings**.
- Ensure that **UPnP (Universal Plug and Play)** is enabled. UPnP allows the Xbox to automatically configure the necessary ports.
2. **Check Xbox Network Settings:**
- On your Xbox, go to **Settings** > **Network** > **Network settings**.
- Select **Test NAT type** to see if the issue persists.
3. **Clear Alternate MAC Address:**
- Go to **Settings** > **Network** > **Advanced settings** > **Alternate MAC address**.
- Select **Clear** and restart your Xbox.
4. **Power Cycle Your Network:**
- Turn off your Xbox, router, and modem.
- Wait for about 30 seconds.
- Turn on the modem first, wait for it to fully boot up.
- Turn on the router, wait for it to fully boot up.
- Turn on the Xbox and check the network settings again.
5. **Verify DHCP Reservation:**
- In your router’s settings, go to **LAN Settings** or **DHCP Settings**.
- Check if your Xbox has a reserved IP address. If not, reserve the current IP address assigned to your Xbox.
- Ensure that this IP address is within the DHCP range and does not conflict with other devices.
6. **Port Forwarding (if necessary):**
- Even though your router recognizes the Xbox, manually forwarding the necessary ports might still be required:
- **Port 88 (UDP)**
- **Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)**
- **Port 53 (UDP and TCP)**
- **Port 80 (TCP)**
- **Port 500 (UDP)**
- **Port 3544 (UDP)**
- **Port 4500 (UDP)**
- Map these ports to the Xbox’s IP address shown in the router’s interface.
### Additional Troubleshooting:
1. **Double NAT Check:**
- If you have a modem-router combination, ensure it’s set to **Bridge Mode** to avoid double NAT issues.
- This might require contacting your ISP for assistance.
2. **Factory Reset:**
- As a last resort, consider a factory reset of your router to ensure no conflicting settings. This should be done only if other steps fail.
### Summary:
1. Ensure UPnP is enabled.
2. Clear alternate MAC address on Xbox.
3. Power cycle your network.
4. Check and configure DHCP reservation.
5. Forward necessary ports if needed.
6. Check for and resolve any double NAT issues.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the NAT issues while keeping the automatic recognition of the Xbox by the router. If problems persist, contacting your ISP might help as they can provide specific configurations for your network setup.
