I signed up for the Bring Your Own Phone promotion and Verizon refused to pay the 500.00 they promised. Real simple, I brought my own phone, it was activated. The representative said that was all I needed to do. When I called and asked them to honor their promotion they said I had failed to register or some other nonsense. This promotion is a ripoff. It's real simple. I brought my own phone, it was activated and they refused to pay. No one told me I had to register by a certain date to qualify for the promotion. It is quite obvious that I was using my phone on their system.
Anyone else have a similar problem?
Total ripoff!!

Hi @TW37 ,
You are not alone and this is fraud. Verizon has no leg to stand on here -- they are denying rebates to those that qualified simply because they don't want to honor the terms they promised. I have spent hours dealing with customer service trying to get this resolved.
Customer service explicitly told me (in writing) that my rebate was being processed in January. Now, they are suddenly changing their tune and refusing to pay.

You were right on that one. They are still refusing to honor the promotion.

I cancelled my account and switched to T-Mobile when they refused to honor the promotion. Now they are saying that they can't pay me or honor the promotion because I'm no longer a customer. Before that they said I failed to register for the promotion and it was too late to do so even though when I started service and asked a representative if I needed to do anything else to qualify for the promotion and I was told no. And I didn't see anything anywhere that said I needed to register. I was told that it was on the APP. Well I don't use the APP, so how would I know???
In any case it is really simple. I brought my own phone, I kept service for well over the required time and they never gave me the 500.00 that was promised in the promotion and I know I'm not alone.
It's Fraud, plane and simple false advertising, fraud. They never intended to honor the promotion. I wonder how many if any customers actually got the money?

I just did a private message with a customer service rep and they said that because I was no longer a customer (I dropped verizon because they wouldn't honor this promotion) that they couldn't honor the promotion. Before that when I talked to customer service reps from verizon they told me that I hadn't registered for the promotion. When I signed up for the promotion there was no mention of registration. I even asked the representative point blank if there was anything else I needed to do to make sure I got the 500.00 promised. That representative said no, you are all set up.
This promotion is a complete fraud. False advertising. How many representatives do I have to talk to for them to honor their promotion?

And now they are telling me that I failed to claim my rebate! First they said I failed to register in time, now I failed to claim it!

More runaraounds.
Based on my findings the BYOD Rebate offer (Provided as a Verizon Gift Card), was not claimed with in 30 days of activation of your service. The Rebate Code would have need to be claimed on your Rebate Center's webiste page here: https://www.yourdigitalrebatecenter.com/#!/. Additionally, your account has be closed, and we are unable to apply an inconvenience credit. I understand this is not the news you would have wanted to hear, and I do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. *Cassie"
Now they are claiming I failed to "claim" my giftcard.
Wow, first it was that I didn't register in the proper amount of time and now they had a giftcard for me and I was too stupid to claim it.

Yes, no surprise. They are still giving me the runaround.
Here's a link to the FTC website. Federal Trade Commission. Fraud complaint area. https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/
I'm going to file a complaint and I suggest anyone else in here who has the same problem do the same.

Good work TW. The more eyeballs we can get on this issue the better.
Please also check with your state's Attorney General office (or consumer protection office) and file reports with them.
