Am I the only one that's had this experience?
I’ve repeatedly been misled—both over the phone (on recorded lines) and in-person—by Verizon sales and customer service representatives regarding mobile plans.
They’ve promised things like:
-
“Free phone with trade-in”
-
“Completely free phone with a new line”
-
“Free iPad with a bundle—only $10/month for service with a 36-month commitment”
Only to find out, either call back to clarify, or worse, notice unexpected charges on my bill, those deals had limits or caps they never disclosed. This is despite me asking for specifics and confirming details, again, on recorded lines.

Hello there alex120! We want to make sure that you are given all disclosures and understand them before you make a purchase. Is there a specific promo that you would like disclosures for? We can review for you right here.

Hi, I'm here a lot and have read numerous threads about this. In a nutshell, it's a fine print thing. Yes, you do get a free phone if you meet all the requirements of the promotion. The catches are that you must remain a customer of Verizon for 36 months, and the phone's cost is paid back to you in monthly credits until you've received 36 credits total equal to the cost of the phone. There is often a requirement that you use the Unlimited Ultimate Plan, although this has been changing for some of the newer promotions.
Carriers also assess additional fees for line activation if you're a new customer. If you're an existing customer, there's a device activation fee if you have Verizon get your device going instead of doing it yourself. There are also fees for data transfer, Pro on the Go house calls, and potential 3rd party fees if you go to a 3rd party (not a corporate) store.
All the big carriers work their deals the same way from what I've seen. I lurk at the other guys' websites sometimes, plus Verizon's competition has been trying to poach me, but I've been reading their fine print very carefully.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

Sure, but the point I’m making here is that when you are having a conversation and they book your business live, and there is nothing to review until “too late sorry that’s what you signed up for”… I have asked directly about the points you provided and have had the wrong information confirmed leading to purchase.
There is no patience for that.
