I've been a customer since 2003. So my account has cost about $30,000 + over that period of time. I've never had an upgrade on a phone from Verizon. Always brought one or I purchased one once from a Verizon affiliate. Today I went to a Verizon owned store as well as talked with a rep in the Loyalty Program. Both said my account which includes 4 devices does not qualify for a free or discounted phone. Nothing! I don't know why the say they have a loyalty program. Maybe that is for the top 1% of existing customers.
However, Verizon has many offers for new customers, who may leave Verizon after their 3 year contract expires. But apparently, the only way for me to get a new phone is to either pay full price, find a used device somewhere, or switch to another carrier. Well, the first option is a non-starter and why should I given Verizon's view of existing customers.

We want to continue to have your loyalty and provide you with the service you deserve. There are certain qualifications required for certain promotions, sometimes these promotions include a new line of service. However, we're always working on having promotions for our loyal customers. Would you like to see if there are any qualifying promotions on your account?
