There is no "free" wifi/data usage by any carrier. The device allows you to use your data plan towards a wifi hotspot with the device but there's no device that allows you to get free data/wifi. Not sure where the misunderstanding came from but it's not a false or misleading claim.

The store manager directly replied to my question "if I buy the "Jetpack" "WIFI device that Verizon sells as "Mifi", will the data I utilize with the Jetpack be FREE?" She replied "Yes,FREE"

The "Jetpack" (a proprietary name) when my Gal 5S Samsung connects to it. Prints an onscreen notice "connected to WIFI NETWORK" but it simply reroute or diverts to the VERIZON PLAN in order to charge data usage...exactly as if I was simply using Mobile phone to connect to internet. I don't benefit...ONLY VERIZON BENEFITS $$$$$$$$$$$$

I apologize that there was a miscommunication from the person you spoke to. I presume there is an understanding now of what the device is used for? if you are with in your 14 day return window and unsatisfied with the features and services that are provided by the Jet Pack then you do have the option to return the device.

agreed. I was not there I can not speak on behalf of understanding or representation or even positioning as some sales people have a tendency to do. this I do know beyond anything. if your not happy go back to the store and speak to the person who sold it to you. explain the issue and if you don't want the jet pack ask for your 14 day window refund.

yes. free wifi to the customer/consumer who is within the radius of the wifi antenna. Verizon wireless is a cellular service provider. if you want a device that will provide you with unlimited free wifi there is no such device in existence. if you want a device that will allow your personal wifi enabled equipment to connect to a data plan that you pay for then the Jet pack is the perfect device for you. Verizon Jetpack MiFi 6620L | Verizon Wireless this is the link to the device that I own. it works as advertised.

Didn't you think it was odd that Verizon wold sell you a device for very low price and allow you to get Internet anywhere for absolutely no cost? That is such an outrageoys thought that I suspect the rep would not even expect that to be asked was answering a completely different question that they thought he or she heard. Your request was pure fantasy. Always do research before buying anything
No one answering your post so far works for Verizon or has anything to do with Verizon.

Verizon employees will all have VZW at the end of their names.
Starbucks and such provide free Internet to entice you into their store so you buy stuff from them. It is a marketing tool that makes the company more money. They pay someone for the Internet, they do not get it free.
Verizon's whole business is selling you mobile internet and voice. Giving it away for free would be like Starbucks giving lattes to everyone for free. Makes no sense since that is the whole point of their business. I had to read your statement 3 times before I actually believed my eyes you expected free internet anywhere you go from Verizon. The Verizon rep obviously heard you say or mean something else. I expect they would not have understood you were asking if all service and Internet was free. Your whole request was unexpected.

I am wondering if the rep misunderstood you while he was trying to sell you something. Wifi is in fact free if you used it in the sense Verizon won't charge you to use it. Mifi is mobile Internet and quite possibly you confused yourself and the rep and this whole thing happened.

my neighborhood sports bar&grill. Regardless of their brand of device or
cell phone/mobile device type....tablet phone or laptop!

IT isn't free for Starbucks or Barnes & Noble. They pay a service provider to provide wifi for customers.
I Pay Cox cable for home wifi.

I would say at this rate, Jayhawk1950, if you feel you were lied to then you need to confront the person who you feel lied to you. everyone on this forum including members who have a well established status are telling you that VZW does not offer free wifi through your new Jet Pack. I am sorry that this comes as a shock.
