Integrated Messaging data connectivity problem

When I try to use the Verizon messaging application I get the following error:
Integrated Messaging - data connectivity problem occurred. Please ensure you have a stable connection.
The device is connected to my wifi and has a full strength connection. I can surf the net just fine and all other applications work fine.
Why can't I text?

Got it work. Had to turn off wifi, then it worked instantly.

Let's ensure you're able to utilize the device fully with Verizon Messages. Is this a new issue that has recently began? If you have an opportunity please head into Settings > Applications > Manage Apps > Verizon Messages and clear cache / data. Once this has been completed please retest.

This is a new tablet, only a week old. The messaging has never worked. I have cleared the cache several times with no luck. I have uninstalled-restarted-reinstalled Verizon Messaging still with no luck.
