Why won't my Ellipsis 10 tablet not update to the latest Android Version?

Android 6 (Marshmallow) and 7 (Nougat) are only compatible with newer devices. If a device can function decently with a new OS, it will be released for it. But every device will eventually be old enough that the newest updates are no longer compatible with it. According to Verizon's software page for the Ellipsis 10, the latest software for it was Android 5 (Lollipop). You may still get some security patches at some point, but the Ellipsis 10 likely isn't capable of efficiently running the later versions of Android.

Have android 5.1. Never has offered a newer version of android.
