Has anyone has success using an specific iPad Navigation App (iPad is WiFi only) with a Verizon MiFI 8800L Hotspot? Currently trying to run Apple Maps or Google Maps over the iPad while connected to the hotspot is very inaccurate, often times a couple miles behind. Does anyone have any suggestions? We would really like to rely on a hotspot to provide internet and GPS signal to the WiFi iPad and not have to install a modem or get a cellular iPad as those are not options for us.

psituser, we definitely want to ensure we provide hotspot so you can rely on via jetpack. To confirm, what speeds are you receiving on the jetpack? -Lorenzo

Good Morning,
Speeds in two locations
8.99mbps download/13.9mbps upload
5.23mbps download/1.86mbps upload
Do you have any apps/settings/suggestions to ensure our users can use GPS navigation on their iPad connected via cellular to provide accurate navigation?

psituser,
Those are some decent speeds. Do you have a cellular phone as well? Have you tried any other Wi-Fi connection to see if the GPS is more accurate?

Good Morning,
Yes phone or iPad over that wifi GPS still lags behind. Using a cell phone on Verizon it works just fine but using an iPad or Phone WiFi only over the hotspot is very slow. Not sure if there is any recommended App that transmits NMEA data? I saw some posts that because the Hotspot does not send that over wifi it could cause issues?

psituser,
It does sound like you are on to something. We do not have any recommendations. You can try other GPS applications like Waze or others out there.

So far no other app is giving us any luck, which is very disappointing.
Any other thoughts at all? The network coverage is pretty good out here, which is why we stuck with Verizon. We may have to re-think providers if this is going to be the case for any hotspots.
Thanks.

psituser,
We value you as a customer, and we don't want to see you walk away! Does this happen only when you connect to the MiFi, or does it happen when you connect to another WiFi network as well? -Michelle

We only use GPS when connecting to the MiFi. We cannot connect to any other WiFi network on teh road as we use the MiFi for WiFi while on-the-road.

psituser, I know you mentioned you are using jetpack/MiFi while on the road/travelling. Do you see the issue with the GPS occur at certain locations or no matter where you are located? Where have you been seeing issues occur (zip codes)?
