411 calls for a parent with dementia

Hi,

My father is a verizon customer and will commonly call 411 over 100 times a month.  These charges are more than he can continue to afford.  The Smart Family service worked so poorly that I couldn't block any numbers.  I doin't want to cancel his phone all together, but I cannot find a way to block 411.  Several verizon agents have said they blocked it, but that was untrue.  What options are there for blocking his phone from dialing 411.  If 411 cannot be blocked on his phone, the next alternative is to drop Verizon and search for a service that is capable of restricting numbers.

Thanks

Mike7794,

I certainly understand how those 411 charges can add up. We don't want things getting to be more than you're okay with. We're glad to help.

You mentioned Smart Family however, but that is the method to block calls to 411. There isn't another path to do that. You can find the steps through that service under step 11 at https://www.verizon.com/support/411-connect-faqs/. What trouble have you had using that?

There isn't a way to block it. However, there was a program that can get people free 411 call access. Dunno if Verizon still offers that or not.
