When could we expect to see other 4G markets to launch in WV,currently the only area in WV with 4G coverage is Charleston. I reside in the Clarksburg area (26301) which is close to Morgantown. ( West Virginia University ) We have no EVDO coverage in the entire North Central portion of WV. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Does anybody have any updates on the 3G/4G situation in Morgantown? I don't understand why Verizon can't post more detailed information on new markets and at least a timeframe on when we can see these projects finished.

For those of you that would like to see better Verizon Wireless coverage in north central West Virginia please send an email to the following address (edited post to removed email address to comply with) she is the public relations manager for Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Laura will respond quickly to your emails. We need all the support we can get on this matter so please take a few minutes and email her and tell her why having better Verizon Wireless Coverage is important to you. And please get as many of your friends, family and co-workers involved if they feel we could benefit from improved Verizon Wireless coverage!
Thank You All
Kindest Regards
Jason E.

I was just told by the manager of Radioshack at the Morgantown Mall location that we are looking at Jan-Mar 2013 now 😞 I guess Verizon and Frontier are in some type of disagreement and erecting the towers hasn't happened yet. I'm totally sick of this crap. I may pay the $175 early termination fee and jump on board with AT&T 😕

I think 4G in West Virginia is improving dramatically. I live in Huntington, WV and I already have 4G on my phone. Good job Verizon!

NO. Morgantown does NOT have 4G (as of August 15, 2012) and Morgantown also does NOT even have 3G. It's pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. Here we have a city with a major research university, one of the top 100 universities in the nation, and also the smartest city and county in West Virginia (in terms of residents with college degrees) and Verizon has left us in the dark ages.
Completely LAME.
If you have an iPhone and do the "Airplane mode trick" (turn on Airplane mode, then turn it back off) you will have 3G service for 2-3 minutes...then it disappears. When I asked a Verizon tech support guy why this happens, he believes it is because the iPhone initially locks onto a distant Verizon tower with a good data (3G) signal...but with a bad voice signal. So when the iPhone realizes it has a bad voice signal, it defaults to a local tower in Morgantown that does NOT have 3G. (I asked if there is any way to FORCE the iPhone to use the tower with the 3G data signal, and he said no.)
So all of us here in Morgantown that are on VZW are screwed for the foreseeable future---even while just down the road in Grafton, WV and Clarksburg, WV...there is 3G.
Absolutely pathetic.

Im looking into starting an online petition for verizon to improve coverage and to also bring 4g lte to the people of north central west virginia. Would you guys be willing to participate in something like that? Also another thing I have been doing is sending several emails a week asking questions about coverage and lte, the more people that inquire and show interest, i think we stand a better chance at getting noticed. Come on Verizon show some love for this part of the state!

How about a class-action suit? I renewed my daughter's contract with the "promise" that 4G would be available in Morgantown when she went to school. This seems to be a breech of contract.

O ok it really stinks becuz I got the new Samsung Galaxy S3 and the phone is basically worthless. Lets see what everyone thinks of this situation. So everyone on Verizon is on extended network which essentially means that we are using US Cellular towers in Morgantown. They have an agreement with Verizon that lets them do that for their customers. Apparently US Cellular is getting 4G in October of this year. Does this mean that all of the Verizon customers will be using US Cellular's 4G network? I ran this by a Verizon rep and they said yes, not too sure tho.

There is actually 2 different rumors as to why there is no 4G in Morgantown at this time. Both have been relayed to me by Radio Shack, and the VZW authorized agent locations. 1.) The severe weather that we had last month has put everything behind and delayed the launch for at least 2 months. 2.) VZW is in a dispute with US Cellular over rights to the area which they have until february 2013 ( Morgantown will launch at that time????? ) I live in Clarksburg, and was told in December 2011 when 3G launched here that we would have 4G by June 2012. Everything I have read states WV will be completed by the end of 2013, save yourself the frustration and look for the launch at that time!!!!

Yeah, I'm not sure what map you are looking at, but I don't see any of the maps showing Morgantown having 3 or 4G. Look at the entire coverage map for West Virginia. It's the worst state east of the Mississippi. It just goes to show what a dump of a state it is and what the biggest player in wireless communications, Verizon, thinks of the financial gain (or lack of) in the state itself. I'm so glad that I live in the Pittsburgh area, but unfortunately my fiance lives in Morganhole and I travel there often.

Here in weirton we are slowly getting 4g coverage. On the hills of weirton heights and marland heights we have either 4g extended or complete 4g coverage and the maps have updated to show that.
I like the fact that I have 4g in weirton 65% of the time. Sad thing is follansbee, wheeling, new cumberland and steubenville only have 3g.

Windstream is stringing new fiber optic cable for 4g service from Morgantown to Huntington. They were going through Clarksburg last week.

What does Windstream have to do with Verizon Wireless Service??? Last week Straight Cable/Tower Service from Fairmont WV & Lumus was pulling Fiber in Stonewood WV, but that had nothing to do with VZW. They were installing Fiber for US Cellular's 4G network which goes live this month in Morgantown, Preston County, Fairmont, Bridgeport, Clarksburg. After US Cellular's LTE network goes live in North Central WV all of the VZW customer's with marginal coverage will become US Cellular customer's .

Where did you get the information that VZW customers will become US Cellular customers? It seems odd they would do this when they have built a VZW Tower in Morgantown that will be 4G.
