Cannot Connect To Work VPN Using Verizon Router

I switched from Comcast as an internet provider to Verizon a few days ago. Since I made the switch I cannot connect to my jobs VPN from the verizon router. When I go to the office I can connect. I've gone to starbucks, which I'm not a fan of since I only have a little laptop screen, and I can connect. I have even switched on my phone as a hotspot while still in my house and connected fine to the VPN but as soon as I connect to the internet wi-fi through my router suddenly I can't connect to the VPN and since I am on a limited data plan I can't just use my phone as a hotspot for a work around.
I have tried connecting to my router's IP address and turning the firewall to the most lax options as well as opening about 75 ports hoping one of them would work from what I could find. If there are any other solutions out there I would be really greatful. I don't really want to switch back to comcast but I need to connect for work.

It is always nice to connect to a work VPN while away from work, lettman1. I would also be concerned if I was able to connect while in other Wi-Fi networks but not through my Verizon router. To be sure we are on the same page, allow us to gather more details. Did you acquire the router through Verizon Wireless or Verizon FiOS? VictorC_VZW

According to you and https://www.verizon.com/home/accessories/fios-home-router/ it appears you have Verizon FIOS. This is the Verizon Wireless forum. You need to be posting on the Verizon FIOS forum at https://forums.verizon.com..

Just a quick update. The solution to the problem was that the router would not open ports because it was a defective router. I got a new one and it works perfectly once the correct port was opened.
