Hello -
I recently upgraded my iPhone through BestBuy. I selected to retain my existing plan ( and I have all the paperwork showing that ). But I just signed onto my account and my plan has been changed by Verizon without my consent. What is the best way to get this remedied? How can Verizon change my plan if I did not consent or even select a new plan?
Thanks in advance!

Yes. Call Customer Service. How long ago was it? What did you have and what do you have now?

I upgraded the phone on Friday. I had an iPhone4 and went to the iPhone5. I was previously on the Nationwide450 plan with unlimited data and now my plan has been changed to the 2gb data plan, which I never would have selected obviously.

They should have informed you that you have to switch from unlimited data, I would go back to bestbuy with all your paperwork and the phone and see if they can find a plan that works for you, or just return it

The unlimited data automatically drops with extension of a 2 year contract.. I wish, but unlimited doesn't exist anymore, the upgrade gets rid of that. Since you went Friday you have worry free guarantee period of 14 days, you can return the device and get your unlimited data reset.

Thanks for the help. I just feel that Verizon should honor what my paperwork says and what I agreed to, which is :
Your Plan These items will be billed by your wireless carrier and do not include all fees, taxes and surcharges. * The monthly rate for your existing plan will remain the same.Monthly Charges, See below Verizon Wireless Keep Existing Plan, * No change With 2-year contract extension |
Device Model: MD654LL/A Keep my existing data plan, $0.00 |

Ooh yeah I completely agree. They need to re-do their paperwork... That policy to lose unlimited has been effect since 06/28/2012..

You can't keep the unlimited data plan when upgrading at the subsidized two year contract price no matter if you upgrade at Best Buy or Verizon Wireless for a Verizon Wireless line. The plan price change is a ONE CENT difference.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

You'd just want to return the phone, that's the only way to get your unlimited data back, sorry about what you had to go through, I wish you knew sooner.

Best Buy is still showing "keep existing plan" but now adding extra screen that says something like "Currently have unlimited? This plan is discontinued, you will be switched into Share Everything".
Now, what is more interesting, is that if you upgrade a basic phone to a smart phone that requires a data plan, it also says "keep existing plan -- $0" when you check out. Obviously this is impossible, if you are buying the phone with subsidy (i.e. for $99 vs $599 retail). You must select a data plan. It defaults you into the $30 2gb share everything plan most likely, but does not make this obvious nor give you a choice.
This is squarely a Best Buy issue as they are a reseller offering something that is neither possible nor exists. I would suggest Verizon pull their authorized reseller license, if they weren't as big as they are 😃

Verizon " Unlimited " plans couldn't be more limited.
They simply lie and con their customers.
Only a class action lawsuit will teach them the lesson about scaming their customers.
I am seriously considering this step other than the obvious which is to go with another carrier who is honest and upfront.
