Data service is virtually out in downtown DC, probably because of people streaming the world cup game. You need to work on this so everyone can use their phones. Very poor response by Verizon - do you monitor your network?

Verizon needs to monitor and adjust the network as usage increases. Immediately when the cup game started, all data requests - even simple text pages - on my phone would time out.
Shame on Verizon for not doing a better job managing their network. What's the point of a network if it fails when people try to use it?

A finite number of towers with a finite number of connections allowed is going to max out if everyone is using the network at once.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Of course that is true, but the point is that when Verizon sees that the network has reached capacity, they need to start managing usage so that everyone can share the finite resources. If a lot of streaming is going on, they need to have a way to manage that, so that other users who are trying to load smaller pages can do so.
Just to sit back, let the network reach capacity, and then let the network be unavailable for an hour or so is irresponsible.

You're making an assumption with no realistic information at all.
