4G has not been announced in our area (Clearfield, PA) but all the 4G capable phones around here have said they have been connected to LTE for a couple of weeks now. What gives? Cities fifty miles southwest (Indiana, PA) and 40 miles southeast (State College, PA) of us have coverage but no announcement from vzw and nothing on the coverage map. Is this permanent or not? This happen to anyone else?
The LTE network usually is unofficially available in the weeks before the official date. You can check the press releases from the Verizon Wireless website to see where the 4G LTE network was extended to this round of network improvements.
