How do you GOUGE customers?

I've paid on time for YEARS - my bill is 283.95  and I Pay it.. ON TIME.. Automatically!

Suddenly you want to DROP the $10 discount you 'offered'  years ago if I went paperless and used Autopay!

If I don't GIVE you my DEBIT CARD info, or BANK ACCOUNT info... !!

I feel as if you are merely trying to get an additional $10 out of me.   I reported this to Consumer Protection

As your phone clerks are about as  [Removed] as the plan to try and FORCE an addition $10 out of me is!

I'd be interested in which discount this is? Verizon has not offered a $10 discount for "years" if you were signed up for paperless billing with autopay. I have been using paperless billing with autopay for "years" and have had no such discount.

Verizon started offering a NEW discount with their NEW unlimited data plan where you would receive a $5(single line) or $10(multiple lines) discount if you used paperless billing and autopay with a debit card or checking account info for payment. This has NOT been around for years and if you choose not to fulfill the requirements of the discount, you would not receive it.

It's not MYSTERY -  For YEARS... my bill has been reduced by $10  because I signed on PAPERLESS and AUTO PAY -    Obviously you're ignorant of that 'deal' -    And I have paid by CREDIT CARD  since 2011  - and I pay HUGELY!.  my Bills have been as high as $300 or more!    Suddenly.. I get this card in the mail..

Don't lose your discount -

They want me to pay with a DEBIT card (which I will not do)  and they want my BANK ACCOUNT.. which I will not do..

So,  I'll merely go with a PAPER BILL - and continue to PAY as I always have..   meanwhile.. submitting a Consumer Complaint to Michigan AG...      The METHOD by which I PAY  is my CHOICE.. their 'Discounts' and programs and such.. theirs as well..   But I'm not going to CHANGE something that isn't BROKEN

Verizon isn't the ONLY carrier available...   they keep forgetting that..

if you were paying with credit card it may be the reason to lose $10 discount.

just FYI discounts offered by vzw and can be changed and can be modified .

discounts are not part of your agreement.

WRONG!.. there is an implied contract when someone 'accepts' the services - the Contract is whatever is OFFERED - and there was no TIME LIMIT  on the deal.. it clear.. said.. "GO PAPERLESS and use AUTO PAY"  and we'll give you $10 off your bill...      That's how the terms read.. that's what I accepted and complied with...

Then comes a card in the mail.. "Don't lose your Discount"   -  so... YOU are mistaken that Version doesn't offer Discounts my friend...  SADLY mistaken too is your knowledge of TORT...

The TERMS of the CONTRACT were changed -  without REASON..   What DIFFERENCE does it make HOW Verizon is paid.?

To be honest, I can imagine it's because of ALL the Deadbeats, like perhaps yourself, who have STIFFED them with a BILL.. so they want the ability to REACH IN AND GRAB their money via.. DEBIT or BANK.

I don't  FIT the Category....   unlike.. perhaps you..

You are mistaken if you think anyone in this thread has stated Verizon doesn't offer discounts.

Everyone who has replied to you in this thread has stated the exact opposite.

Well, it was you 'specifically' that said..  "

I'd be interested in which discount this is? Verizon has not offered a $10 discount for "years" if you were signed up for paperless billing with autopay. I have been using paperless billing with autopay for "years" and have had no such discount.  "

But your 'Confusion' on the subject doesn't make you 'CORRECT'

I have been MAILED a card.. 'that clearly says.. "DON'T LOSE YOUR DISCOUNT"

A Discount I have enjoyed (including the service I have invested THOUSANDS in for YEARS)  not quibbling over the mere $10..  when I've paid THOUSANDS.. -  just the idea that they want DIRECT ACCESS to my BANK account via  DEBIT card or BANK information..  Which I give to NOBODY!.. period!    and the THREAT that I'll lose a Discount..  (that still appears on their UNLIMITED SALES PAGE)   that I've had for SEVERAL YEARS..

The web page even answered  my comment with a ,  "We're charged more by accepting Credit Cards"

  BOO HOO HOO !

As for your comment about, "Nobody here"..   Don't make a LIAR out of yourself ..  it was YOU who said it!

If it's so bad why not find a new carrier, I'm sure they will be way better.

He probably will along with many others. He's upset because Verizon sees $10 as more important than his business.

Well, it's as easy to make a choice as simply reading what Verizon told me about the $10.    "We have to pay extra for people who pay with a credit card"..  even going so far as to gripe about the $120 a year  giving a good customer who pays OVER $3600 a year for service  a discount. -  It's not so much the $10..   But the idea that the Business 'feels' it can just add or remove an item at their whim in their attempt at 'controlling' their customers.    I invested in the 'Unlimited'  because I grew weary of their constant SALES pitch of $15 for an EXTRA gig of Data if I should go over the meager 10 Gig limit  on my 4 phones..    PAYING them MORE money  - and get a notice that they want DIRECT access to my BANK.

Yes, it's enough to help someone make a decision on how well they are being treated by a 'service provider'
Additionally, the story of how this comes out is used by their Competitor to adjust their own sales approach.

I tried 'reasoning' with Verizon,  Talking to a DEAF ear..    My MONEY is good..  Obviously my LOYALTY is of no value to them.

Here's the deal. Verizon Wireless can change their offerings anytime they choose. Whether you had it or not they are able to take away a discount on their whim. With or without notice. At one point my bill was almost $500 a month. I never used that to try to bully them to give me any discount. I chose to have that many lines and services that equaled what my bill was.

Why do you think that they should give you a discount just because you subscribe to the network? That is like walking into Express and saying 'I will buy this shirt but only if you give me a $10 discount because I am buying it from Express.'. You wouldn't do such a thing. So why is it ok to ask for a discount from Verizon when you don't deserve it?

I signed up for paperless billing and auto-pay with my debit card. I get a $5 per month discount because I have only one line. I pay with my CC before the auto-pay date.

Verizon has the choice to incur that $120 per year per account or not. They choose not to.

So, simply put, if you want the $10 discount you will do as they ask to get it. If you don't want to do that then no discount for you.

Verizon has been taking my monthly payment from my checking account for years. I also have my monthly car insurance and gas and electric bills paid automatically from my checking account.

Credit card transactions usually cost the merchant a percentage of the sale. That may be a factor in Verizon's decision.

Some don't want Verizon to have access to their checking account. My credit cards have a higher available credit amount than I usually have in my checking account. I don't see this as something to get upset about.

I've been a Verizon Customer since at least 2011 - They offered a 'discount' of $10 if I were to go Paperless and set-up Auto-Payment  -  I did that - YEARS ago.. and paid them with "MY" method of paying "MY" bills.. and they GLADLY accepted my payment.. ( Nearly $300 a month! ) on time.. and in Full !
Then they offer a NEW way of getting MORE money from me and I sign up..   I've had it now for about two months..  then comes this card  telling me.. "Don't lose your Discount"  (in short, the same discount I have had for YEARS)  -    Unless I CHANGE my method of Payment.. I'll LOSE something ..
--
Yeah, sure.. being paid by a CREDIT CARD -  Costs them a few pennies.. It's the PRICE THEY pay for offering CREDIT CARDS  as payment methods in order to ENTICE people into Paying!  -  they sure don't want Folding GREEN Bills  Mailed in an Envelope...    Obviously the money they have to SUCK UP by offering Credit Cards  CUTS into their PROFIT..   when a Customer pays some $300 a month - you'd think there'd be applause not  THREATS!..  "Change your method of payment or LOSE"
--
As for giving anyone direct access to your Bank Account or Debit Card.. That's YOUR business -  I'm sure you are completely satisfied with their Security  ( ATTENTION:  March 2016  Verizon has been HACKED.. Customer Records STOLEN )

That would mean that,  DIRECT access to your DEBIT card and BANK   'could be at risk'      Of course Credit Card information could be too...  Except,  the damage would be limited to the contract of the Credit Card Company (VISA or MASTERCARD)

But you do as you please.. what makes YOU feel GOOD..   Meanwhile.. I'm firm..   After paying off the Contracts I Have in play - I'll SELL the Verizon equipment to some Verizon customer.. and bail..  they won't miss my money...   Additionally.. Verizon's Competitor is applauding Verizon's actions..  they don't seem to care..

Thanks for chiming in...   I choose to continue to pay as I always have.. and.. .I'll be getting a PAPER BILL in the Mail from here on out..  and I'll pay as I always have..

I wasn't being ignorant or hateful in my response. I was explaining what works for me. And yes, accounts can be hacked, but I believe anything done online can be hacked.......credit cards, debit cards, checking accounts, whatever.

Any comments in a public forum will usually be responded with other ideas. That's what I was doing. It seems that you are consumed with extreme anger over this. I can only wish you good luck. Again, I meant no offense. If making my cell payment was my main concern in life, I would be pretty darn lucky!

Cheers and try to chill just a bit. And remember, if we all thought the same on everything, life would be dull. Smiley Happy

BTW- I've been a Verizon customer since 1993, but that doesn't make me a worse or better customer. All paying customers are the same.

Your response was great. Some people will ALWAYS try to play the 'I pay $XX per month' card. What they fail to realize is that they pay that much because they CHOOSE to have that many services. Then they think that they should get special treatment. The world doesn't work that way. You're right. This person is very angry over something that is a non-issue. Then they come here and spread the negativity.

Wait until you have been called a troll or accused of being a VZW employee because you have a differing opinion or you point them to the truth.

Thanks. I've had a few snags with Verizon but for me they have the best service, hence the higher price than others I suppose.

I was grandfathered for years but I bought a cellular iPad in March. To get that on the plan I had to switch to the new unlimited. I knew that I would loose my employer discount, but that was my choice. It costs me $15 more a month with both devices. They work great and I'm happy with my choice. But I investigated it before I switched, so now I can't cry about it.

A few years ago I bought a performance car that prefers premium gas, which is what I always use. Shortly after the price for premium went up from 30 cents more than regular to 40 cents more than regular. I guess I could constantly holler are the gasoline retailers or perhaps Ford for making such an engine. But everything isn't about a dollar to me. If it was a problem, I'd sell the car. I like it and that was my choice.

And yes, I stopped commenting on most of the Apple and Android sites because I'm a troll if I have a slightly different opinion. Ha.

This PERSON  has had a DISCOUNT for AUTO PAY using a CREDIT card  for YEARS!
This PERSON  does not want to GIVE Verizon direct access to my bank or DEBIT card.

VERIZON has had a complaint made about this to the Michigan Attorney General's Office.. Consumer PROTECTION..   Nothing may come from it.. but.. it's STILL a complaint on File..

There was NOTHING mentioned about having to SWITCH my method of payment to RECEIVE any Discounts..  I had ALREADY been GETTING  for YEARS !

Every comment here not coming from VERIZON  is mere NOISE !

The CHARGE is DISCRIMINATION  -  let's see how it works out.

As others have said very plainly, and you don't seem to understand, you certainly have the option of not doing the autopay and paperless billing if you don't want to receive the discount but this is the prerequisite for that discount on the new unlimited plan which you chose. If you do paperless and autopay you get the discount (hooray!), and if you decide not to for whatever your reasoning that's fine, but you don't get the discount! It seems very simple to me and certainly a choice that you made when switching to this plan. The good news is, you can change your mind at any time and if you decide you want to sign up for paperless and autopay you will get the discount but until then, you don't qualify for the discount.... it is up to you

At this point it's not entirely about the $120 a year discount on my $3600 payments for SERVICE..  it's the attitude of a Business who CHANGED their policy mid stream..   and don't really care if a $3600 customer is satisfied or not..    They claim the 'PAPERLESS BILLING'  and 'AUTO PAY'  saves them  money   so much so that they URGE people to sign up for it to SAVE them a HASSLE..

And I did just that.. years ago -    And I also started paying them even MORE money and put 4 phones in service..  and have purchased my equipment from them..        This isn't about the $120 a year.. that's a FRACTION of what I pay for SERVICES all over the place..    it's the idea that they THINK to Quibble over how I  PAY THEM..  and somehow  FORCE me to  Abide by some Contract they dreamed up to SAVE themselves the CREDIT CARD users FEE..     Well, I've a plan to inform my Credit Card Company  VISA of how I'm being treated here..  and we'll see how VISA likes  how VERIZON is Discriminating  against how people pay their bill with a VISA card..

That, and the Consumer Protection Complaint..    is about the best I can do..      It's a PHONE service..  with the word.. "SERVICE"   in 'small print'..

Thanks for chiming in..  I've gone back to A PAPER BILL and may send money orders from now on to pay my bill..

By the way, the ONLY reason I signed up for the UNLIMITED service was the Constant threat of a $15  a GIG  charge for going over the data line.
THAT.. is GOUGING  Customers..   And even the UNLIMITED isn't that at all..  (after a certain amount.. the DATA stream SLOWS down)

  THAT too is GOUGING..

Your responses are irrational at this point. There is no talking to you.

I could show you all of the evidence to back up what I have said but I won't bother. You believe what you believe.

Rest assured that Verizon has a gaggle of lawyers who have done all of the research to make sure these changes can't come with any legal recourse but go ahead and file complaints if you like. If you feel $10 is worth it. It is your decision to do so.

It's a matter of time before an admin comes and closes this thread.
