Make sure your network adapter is not disabled.

uninstall all versions of Vzaccess Manager, Quicklink Mobile, Vodaphone Broadband etc and device drivers...reboot, reinstall the 4G vzam either from www.vzam.net or from the CD

I am getting the same exact error message.  Tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the drivers and the VZAccess Manager, but it made no difference.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?  I can't seem to find any info regarding error WMC604 at all - just this thread.

I am getting the same error. And my Pantech modem DID work briefly -- maybe 10 minutes during my initial two uses of it -- before error occurred last night around midnight. (Is it possibly a Verizon network problem?)

Purchased UML290 yesterday. Modem connects only 3G, then drops after 30 sec, reconnects, then drops. Repeats itself continually. Verizon needs to communicate issues beyond 'hand off' from 3G to 4G which they are working out the bugs.

WMC604 error when trying to access 4G LTE.  Have uninstalled Vz Access Manager, rebooted, and reinstalled.  Pantech UML290 is working (i.e., blue light); however the 4G network is not working in the Herndon, Virginia area.

Probably authentication error between the Packet Gateway (SAE) and legacy HA. I don't know VZW's specific implementation but if I were you I would go into engineering settings and force it to LTE. I do know VZW is working for the hand-off bugs.

I am also getting this error. In fact for the last few days and today. I am travailing between NJ- Baltimore MD.

Using LTE only and still can't connect with error  WMC604 even with 60db signal. Plenty of reboots, resets, and replugs. Used the newest version of VZaccess, and fresh  installs on two computers. Setting to CDMA only does connect.

Talking to Verizon they have other tickets for this issue and are creating one

for me as well.

It seems clear to me Verizon is having major issues here..

Along with the WMC604 my experience is  the 4G maps are not accurate outside of Philly.

There are large amount of areas where Verizon claims to have 4G and

is there is none. Maybe the towers are not fired up.. fine just say so.

Can't get any answers out of the Verizon store or anyone on the phone

to confirm any issues on their side although it seems obvious. I personally have wasted a lot of time trying

to figure out these issues.

Since I have a MAC i figured I would try that. There is another post here and back at EVDO forums

which shows how to set this up. By the way this is not supported by Verizon.

It works.. yes I am on 4G on the mac authenticated with no errors. So my guess

is there is some sort of VZaccess manager configuration issue and or

problem with the way it authenticates..

here are the mac instructions:

Also got it to work on Windows 7 NOT using VZAccess!!

setup a dial up connection using the settings as described

here:

http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=29355

make sure you use vzwinternet for the APN not the one showed

in the link above. So for the modem init string it should be:

AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","vzwinternet"

and for the dial up number :*99#

I tried the steps listed above but cannot get it to work. Has anyone else been able to get this to work in Windows 7?

I get an error 678 "The remote computer did not respond"

I enabled logging and created a diagnostic report if anyone wants to see it :smileyhappy:

Thank you.

Wow, I'm glad I found this thread. I was just getting ready to order a UML290 to replace my USB760. I live just north of Atlanta in the 4G area. I need it to work smoothly and automatically switch back and forth between 3G and 4G. I have a CradlePoint MBR1000 and found that they have beta software for the UML290. I guess I'll follow this thread until you guys figure this out before I make the switch. I'm not willing/able to deal with much more than plugging it in and expecting it to work.

Are you sure you are in a 4G area? the dial up won't work on 3G.(unless you change the authentication settings)

You can open vzaccess to check coverage and leave it open.

With vzaccess open the dial up connection on 4G should still connect you right up

I have also found that the user and password are not required.

I was having alot of the same issues, called CS and they sent me to a level 2 tech. He had me do some things and still could not get 4G to connect. He told me it was more than likely defective and to swap it out at the store. Not only did I swap it, but I switched from the LG to the Pantech. Now it works great! I can actually be in 3G going down the road, move into the 4G area and it switches without a hitch.

I did find that before my LG finally went out for good, I could hit Detect Device and that would help the majority of the time.

I like the Pantech a little better because the USB connector is longer and it allows you to position it better.

If you are under your 30 days, which we all should be, take it back for another one. They have to do that for 30 days.

BTW-The FW and Software update should be coming out next week. It is supposed to fix the network problems and make it MAC compatible without having to do a hack.

Hello Toughbook; I'm having the exact problems you're having.  I re-plugin the Panteck, it shows 4 strong bars of 4G while searching,  If I catch a split-second CONNECT I get  a WMC406 error,   It drops to a 1 or 2 bar 3G and I'm stuck at my old .4 mg speeds.

Today the Network Teck guys started working on my problem and they seem to be busting their butts to fix it.  It turns out they work in teams 24/7  and I'm expecting calls even tonight.  They (and I)  want to exclude all network problems before we try trading out hardware.  "Ron" told of one women who changed from Pantech to LG & back again 4 times to no avail.

I notice you're in Georgia too.  I'm Stone Mtn, well in the 4G area,  Last night I took my UML290 to another dealership figuring it might need a different tower.  We installed on the shop computer and got the same bug.   He said mine was the first experience he had on his own showroom floor with the new gear.   He also pointed out that Verizon has owned Atlanta for 20 years. All the towers here are theirs,  No Allteck till North Carolina.

I think they're sincerely working on the problems but I'm reminded of a joke origionaly attributed to Microsoft:

What does Verizon call their beta-testers?   .....Customers

Let's keep this subject/message up untill we're ALL happy.  I'm even posting on the T-Mobile site where they're P.O'd & talking about coming to Verizon.   I'll let you know what works for me.

Stats:

XP desktop,  Service Pack 3

Latest version of AccessManager downloaded & re-installed last  night - no help.

If someone has a Verizon 4G card that still works, can you launch hyper terminal or some terminal app, and open the serial port associated with the pantech modem and type:

at+cgdcont=?

This will list the Context ID's that Verizon provisioned the sim with. The Pantech 4G device has both a dial up interface and an Ethernet interface that you can use to connect to the 4G network. I have seen faster throughput using the card as an Ethernet interface, but if you used the card on a mac or a messed with APN's you may have overwritten the default .
