I just got the Cosmos Touch within the last week. I do NOT want Daily Scoop. I only have texting and phone - no data. I called Verizon to have it deactivated and they told me they couldn't do that. I had them block access to all data, internet, etc. Only leave access to text and phone. The phone was automatically downloading the Daily Scoop stuff within 12 hrs of activation. Now, even after calling VZ, going thru the Remove under the application a dozen times and stopping messages, I am constantly getting a message on my phone that I have a new Media Center Message and then it automatically tries to connect to Daily Scoop. I don't what it at all. I want to remove it completely from the phone. I went thru the instructions under the questions about Daily Scoop on the Verizon site, but it didn't work. I don't have "Get It Now". I went thru Media Center, Browse and Download, Daily Scoop and Remove. The garbage can comes up and says it's erased, but it is still there constantly sending me messages. I also shut off phone and had Verizon refresh the phone to the new settings....nothing! I am tired of Verizon employees not being able to answer a question or do anything to help a customer! The only reason I have Verizon is that nothing else comes in where I live in the country. NOT happy with them at all! Please help stop Daily Scoop!

Hi White1200c,
I can assist you with the Daily Scoop application. I understand your frustration. Please note that the Daily Scoop is a pre-loaded application, so it cannot be removed. However, if you follow the steps I have outlined below, you will no longer see the phone lighting up and using battery life.
• Launch Daily Scoop
• Select ‘Menu->Options->Verizon Msgs’
• Choose ‘Off’ and ‘Save’.
• Repeat the same procedure for ‘Menu->Options->Bonus Msgs’
I hope this information is helpful for you and your device. Have a good day!

I bet it can be annoying to have completed all of those steps but not having the issue resolved.
Are you saying that you have also emailed vzdailyscoopsupport@mobileposse.com and you are still receiving alerts from Daily Scoop?
Please advise and I can look into it.

So, what are the people who have no ability to change their data plan supposed to do about this? I have a business line, provided by my employer, which I have no control over. Therefore, the "unsubscribe" solution is unacceptable. I have done the "turn off messages" solution, but this is still a problem for me. I am also experiencing the "phone lighting up" issue, which is claimed to be a seperate issue to the "Daily Scoop" issue, but this is untrue. 9 times out of 10 when I'm getting the ghost backlighting and turn on the screen, it's either on the Daily Scoop initialization page (which does nothing, since I don't have a data plan and therefore NEVER subscribed) or on the Browse and Download page.
I agree with every post saying this is unacceptable. Basically, verizon is telling everyone to try something, and when it doesn't work, then deal to with it. There needs to be a complete solution, preferably in the form of a software update (removing Daily Scoop from the phone in the form of a software update would be best case scenario). The solutions offered so far have not only been unacceptable, but just plain don't work or will never work with some customer's situations.
**Edit**
Forgot to mention, another side effect of this issue is the fact that it will interupt any alarms that are going off, just to try and initialize Daily Scoop. It's a big inconvience and very frusterating, considering that I don't use this application and cannot remove / disable it.

No it is not the alerts..it is my phone randomly lighting up throughout the day and it is always on the down load screen..I have contacted and did evrything I was told to and contacted the daily scoop...so...I don't know what is trying to "activate" my phone throughout the day. But my battery can go a day max now thanks to what verizon has done.

Don't forget that Verizon signed off on accepting the phone and software from LG. So, this is not just an LG issue it is a VERIZON issue too. Both companies need to keep in mind how they get paid and should not be biting the hand that feeds them. The instructions to disable DAILY SCOOP worked for me. But the the other night we were awoken 2-3 times during the night advertising GMAIL! I was not happy. I am also seeing the phone display light up at random times. VERIZON needs to be all over LG to fix this!
I understand advertising, but we as the end user have the right which we paid for to delete and/or disable the software/apps we do not want!
VERIZON are you listening?? Is the VERIZON group who signed off on this phone and its software aware of the disgruntled customers??? This needs to be fixed and now! How hard could it be to recreate the software package that is currently on the phone but without the apps that we are all complaining about? I woulod think very easy since these apps are not necessary for the phone to fuction! LG? VERIZON? HELLO????
I admire the few customer service personnel who are trying, but I am assuming we have not heard from any engineers from either company. Admit a mistake was made and fix it! I do not believe not should we accept the fact that to remediate this situation is taking this long!
We should all be writing letters of dissatisfaction to the CEO of VERIZON since we all procured them through VERIZON.
my 2 cents...

I too am unhappy with the lack of concern that Verizon is showing in getting this fixed and taking the users of this phone serious about their frustration with this problem.
To that end, is there a lawyer among us that would consider a class action suit against Verizon and LG? Do any of you know a lawyer that would consider this? Has anyone contqcted the Attorney General of your state? I am going to call the AG of Arkansas tomorrow. Maybe comes under the guisdiction of the FCC.
I have the same feelings about this that I have about ObamaCare. I did not ask for either but I am paying the price anyway.

I have had my Cosmos touch for a while now. I was having the same problems with Daily Scoop but followed the instructions posted and it seems to have resolved that issue. HOWEVER, now I have BING coming on and verbally trying to get me to buy the app. Some people on here say their phone lights up for a few minutes periodically. Mine kept doing the same thing even after I stopped the Daily Scoop. So be prepared....after you get rid of Daily Scoop, you will have to deal with BING talking to you at inappropriate times....never at the same time, just randomly throughout the day. Also, I have restricted all data from my phone...don't need it, don't want it. Talk and text is all I need. Even with restricted data, Bing CONTINUES to do this. Please, someone must have a fix for this....this is ridiculous!!! VERIZON....ARE YOU LISTENING????

I no longer get the daily scoop messages after following the instructions above, but my phone stil randomly lights up and/or vibrates, usually between 4 and 6 a.m., so my sleep is disrupted. I also occaisionally get spoken messages (not voicemails or calls, but the speaker just engages on its own), but as I'm asleep or at work when they occur, I don't know what they're about; I think one was about insurance. All I know is that i always discover my phone at the Browse/Download screen after this happens.
I really regret coming back to Verizon and am actually considering canceling before my contract is up.

I recently bought the cosmos touch online and since I got it every day at 1:30 in the morning I am woken up by an talking advertisement, I think its for mobile email but it might be daily scoop I don't know. I have tried deleting both applications and neither will go away. I tired to download the mobile email application to see if I could delete it, however after I click on the get it button it comes up with a screen that says no items were found. So I can not get this application or delete this application, yet it wakes me every night, very frustrating. How can I stop this advertisement? Also, I'm not sure if this is related but I barely use my phone and the battery dies in less then a day. Is there a way to fix it. Thanks for your help

I did all the above. Nothing has worked.
Phone stil andomly lights up when on standby.
When I press a hard botton it wakes up with the browse and download screen activated. Its impossible to tell at this end, if this is or is not being caused by the daily scoop ap.
Software updates in this industry with no targeted release date are useless.... basically bogus. Not holding my breath on LG coming through with on their end, and I still feel Verizon as a corporation doesn't care. (at the very least they should be given a software release date from their supplier LG).

I am kinda amazed at this issue. My wife and I both have the Cosmos Touch and have no Daily Scoop issue. I saw this problem with the phone while doing the review before buying. I wanted to be sure I didn't inadverantly download it or activate it. I have seen it on a list somewhere on the phones, but not recently. I am wondering if the software was updated. I have VN270ZV4. I did find the app location on the phone. It is in media center--Browse adn Download--- Get new App;ications. I have and will avoid doing the dl for that problematic feature.

My update has a ZV3 then _T0_ZV4 .. no current ones to add....but still randomly lights up throughout the day. My husband does not have it but I can't back up his addresses without resetting his phone to being brand new.(as per the phone support that tried every way)...and that opens up the potential for the daily scoop and losing the cute emoticons that they decided to delete one day with the updates...

I got my phone in august and the next day the daily scoop kept poping up and other problems started to occur. i brought it back to the store and they tried to get it "fixed" but it didnt work, so i waited a while to see if the subscription would end, but it end. I called after a month of waiting and they did all these things like reprograming my phone, that obviously did not work.. i got kind of mad but it was still okay. After talking to the customer services about three times, they decided to send me a new one to see if their "new" version would help.. but the same problems kept coming up. I called back a week later another three times about the SAME EXACT PROBLEMS!! i talked to the technical support people and they told me to do ALL the same exact things that i did the first time. Later, they too decided to send me a new one with a "new" verison. I am currently on my 3RD phone and i am VERY VERY disappointed about it. THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM IS STILL HAPPENING! I already called customer services once and i am obviously truely **bleep** OFF about this phone. I just feel like not even paying my bills until they do something about it, to me there is no point in paying my portion of the bill, when i am not even happy with my phone or their service. I am thinking about changing plans to T-mobile because i hear that they have the SAME or even better deals with better prices. i like this phone yes, but the problems with it.... its driving me CRAZY!
To anyone out there... read about this phone before getting it.. Even if it is FOR FREE!

Just adding my HELLO VERIZON?!?
I got Daily Scoop messages turned off, but the phone still lights up throughout the day to display the Get-it-now page.
Today I started receiving randomly firing AUDIBLE advertisements for Mobile Email. This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!!! My phone is not a billboard! Turn it off!
Some of us don't have and don't want to spend money for data on our phones. Data is blocked, and will continue to be. This tactic to force all of us into data charges is not being taken lightly!

I have been reading all the issues regarding the Daily Scoop app pre-loaded on the LG Cosmos Touch. I am having the same issues. I checked the properties on the app and found the developers. I sent them an email asking for a solution. As soon as I hear from them I'll post my results. If you would like to contact them also here is their info:
