I am attaching to my neighbors network extender that she has hooked up to satellite internet. Our speeds have gone down to nothing when we are connected to it and Verizon has said there is no way to disconnect to it. My neighbor doesn't want to put it in closed mode and from it looks like Verizon has the "confirm" button where you can't press it to make it a closed network. The devices instructions lies saying it has a 50ft radius but I'm 172ft away from it and we are connecting to it.  We can not use our phones for  hardly anything and causing my wife to go to another person's house to do work.

  • We have filed complaints with fcc but it goes no where because we don't have the money or time to file a formal complaint.  I've talked to executive relations and that was a waste of time. Verizon even sent my a nasty certified letter and chose to decide to send the fcc a different letter they wrote..

You have my sympathy. I have a slow DSL connection and weak cellular signal. I bought the Network Extender and it works great, I run it in Hybrid Mode. I have tried for months to get it in to  Closed Mode to work because my neighbors are connecting to it and making my calls drop in and out. They are in the same position you are.

I can put the extender in Closed Mode by using a laptop browser but it doesn’t work after I do that.. It no longer recognizes my phone which is a member of the Access List I set up. My slider for power doesn’t work. I have to turn the extender off and restart it. This hurts my neighbors who are in the same situation as you are. I have posted under this, look up “ Closed Mode doesn’t work.  I take it out of Closed Mode by deleting the access list. This switches it back to open, then it reboots into open mode. Then I set up another access list with my phone and the Network extender goes into Hybrid Mode and it reboots into Hybrid Mode.

If Verizon made Closed Mode work, your neighbor would save their Satellite bandwidth and you. would no longer connect to it. They would not have to reduce the power..

You have more bandwidth than I do. If you bought a Network Extender, you would attach to it in hybrid mode and would not attach to your neighbors. If Verizon made Closed Mode work then you would solve your problem. You have enough bandwidth to have a working extender.

Verizon has made a marketing decision instead of one based on technical justification. With more extenders out there, they get “better coverage”. This isn’t true but it helps their marketing plan. It results in people who are dissatisfied because they have one and can’t put it into closed mode, and people like you who are forced by the technology to connect to it because it has the best signal. Verizon is creating a huge problem. because if they come out with a 5G Extender, a single phone from a neighbor could bury the bandwidth of a DSL connection or Satellite Internet.

Exactly!!! I think verizon has done it on purpose where the button does not work. It creates there users to use another user's home wifi instead of there towers.  Verizon has told me there is nothing else they can do.  Its crazy how a neighbor can high jack our phones and we have no way of fixing it.  We have lost so much money and time because we can't use our phones and Hotspot from home. Its been a little better since she said she turned down the signal but we still connect to it.  Its time for Verizon to step up and do what is right.

We have been down every avenue all the way up to executive relations and Verizon has chosen not to help us resolve this issue.  We can't work from when we are connected to our neighbors extender. The neighbors have chosen not to make it a closed network because they don't have time to mess with it anymore.  Verizon has made this the worse experience.
