Number Share Not Hiding Connected Device Number

I have number share setup for my phone and my watch so my phone is the host and my watch is the connected device. My phone is a Samsung Z Fold 3 and my watch is a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 LTE.
Calling or texting the host phone number works as expected. If I turn off the phone, or turn off bluetooth on the phone, or put the phone is airplane mode, and call the host phone number, all these scenarios result in the call ringing on my watch. Similarly, when sending a text message for each of these scenarios, the text message is received by the watch.
However, two things do not seem to be working correctly.
- When I call out from the watch or text from the watch, the device that receives my call or text, sees the watch phone number rather than the host phone number.
- A call or text message sent to the watch phone number as opposed to the host phone number is received by the watch. As I understand it from the FAQs at https://www.verizon.com/support/numbershare-faqs/#extension-device when number share is properly setup, the connected device phone number should be blocked.
I have been working with Verizon support, but so far have had no luck resolving either of these issues. Are others having the same problems? Any idea how to resolve these issues?

Hello, I am currently having the same issue as it pertains to the watch . I left my cell phone at home and made a call from my samsung galaxy watch 6 Lte and the person i called said he almost did not answer because he did not recognize the number. I asked what number showed on his phone when i called it was the watch phone number. Not the host phone number(my cell phone number) would you mind sharing if Verizon resolved the issue for you?
Thanks in advance for your response.

We appreciate the additional details. In this case, your cellphone number will only show when making a call from the watch while connected to the phone. Let us know if you have other questions.

How do you connect your watch to your phone if you left your phone at home?
The " Remotely connected using mobile network" feature doesn't solve the issue.
Bluetooth works only if you have your cell phone and watch in same proximity of each other.

@spport , what you are saying appears to conflict with what is described here: https://www.verizon.com/solutions-and-services/add-ons/mobile/numbershare-mobile/#features.
Moreover, while I now have a Samsung Z Fold 5 and my watch is a Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 LTE, I just tested this to confirm, and I can have my cellphone completely powered off, and:
1. I can receive calls on my watch that are sent to my cellphone number, and
2. I can make calls from my watch and the receiving device see's my cellphone number, and not the number associated with my watch.
This is the behavior that I expect, is the behavior I believe is described in the referenced link, and I believe is what @Anonymous is asking about.
@Anonymous , I set this up quite along time ago, so I do not remember all the details, but to the best of my recollection, it took several rounds with Verizon support to get number-share configured correctly for my number so it worked as you are describing. My suggestion is that when you have lots and lots of free time, give Verizon support a call and tell them it is not working correctly.
Note texting does not work the same as phone calls. I am significantly less familiar with how messaging works with number-share. However, as I understand it, in order for you to be able to send a message from your watch using your cellphone number, your cellphone has to be turned on, and connected to the network or something like that.
Maybe someone else can clarify exactly how texting works with number-share.

Thank You so much KCW_VZW for your reply. It's great to know that there is a fix for the issue of the smartwatch number showing on the receiving persons device instead of the host cell phone number when making a call on the watch remotely and the cell phone is left at home . I will definitely be contacting Verizon again about this issue and Hopefully I can get the right support person that has the know how to correct this issue for me.
I will reply back when i get the issue resolved.
Thanks again for your quick reply and very helpful information.

After a few hours on the phone with a very knowledgeable Verizon Tech I am now able to make calls from my Samsung galaxy watch 6 while my cell phone is sitting at home and turned off. The person on the receiving end of the call can now see my cell phone number on caller I.D. as opposed to the watch number.
I don't know what all was done behind the scene that the tech had to do but I had to reset my watch , deleted the wearable app and downloaded it again, redo the pairing setup of watch with the wearable app. It makes a big difference the tech you speak to and their knowledge of the number sharing feature. Thanks for your help.
