Service declining rapidly

I've been using Verizon in my town for over 5 years now and in the last two years the service has gotten drastically worse.  There are times where I supposedly have full bars and LTE connection and am unable to send or receive text messages.  I haven't experienced this with other carriers and now feel as though the only solution is to make that change.  The website says you can contact customer service until 9 PM every day of the week but I'm on eastern time and at 7:45 I called and it said the offices were closed.  You'd think a major company would have it together with something as simple as hours of operation, but apparently all I'm doing is wasting my time and my money.  We have six lines and I'm afraid Verizon can non longer give us the service we came to depend upon.

I spoke with tech support and they sent me a signal booster for my apartment which is really in no way an acceptable solution to me.  It doesn't address the situation at all and after reading other posts in this forum, it seems as though there are many people in many areas experiencing the same issues and the response from customer service is always a private message so none of the problems are resolved as far as I'm concerned.  Taking the message private doesn't address the situation, it just keeps any resolutions from the public eye.

We definitely want to see you be able to rely on the service day in and day out! I can help troubleshoot. May I have the name of your city and state to investigate the area? How far do you travel before the service improves?

South Bend, Indiana.  It happens in all Zip codes here.  I couldn't even use Google at a birthday party in a city park yesterday.  This problem is not unique to me as several other people I know are having the same issues.  Even in areas where my phone says I have a full signal, the data barely works and is very spotty to say the least.  This is with LTE as I have an iPhone 11 and do not have 5G.  The tech I originally spoke with on the telephone checked my line and said I'd never used enough data to be throttled.

When you have full bars, that definitely means the signal is there, ja57. It could have something to do with congestion and how many people are on the tower being assessed since wireless service is shared and therefore if the data bandwidth is too high, it will experience normal slowdowns. It can also be a device issue if it's occurring everywhere in that zip code. Which plan are you currently on?

I have the new Verizon Unlimited Plan.  Network congestion shouldn't make data completely unusable or text messages not go through.  As I said before, I do not believe this is an issue with my phone since it happens to other people I know in our area too that also have Verizon.  It's not limited to just one zip code, it's a problem in at least 46619, 46628, 46637, 46530, 46614, 46615, 46635.  I've also read other posts in this forum and people have responded to this post as well with the same issues.  The network reminds me of Sprint when they brought on other smaller carriers to their network and completely overwhelmed their capacity.  I personally believe it to be an infrastructure issue and not a phone issue.  As far as I'm concerned the network has basically become unusable.  Call quality is down and in most places one bar is all you get.

Hello, j57. We are very sorry to hear about the continuing issues with service that you've been experiencing in your area. We certainly want to ensure that any issues are resolved correctly. We understand that the issue has been happening with data and using text messaging. Is using calling being affected as well?

Yes.  Call quality isn't great.  It cuts in and out a lot and in a large portion of our area there is only ever one bar.

Bris, let me know what info you need to troubleshoot this issue. I have 5 lines on my account, primary is 713-206-8965. We’ve not been able to get over 2 bars here at home in months. Most of the time it’s only 1. Calls are dropped, people can’t hear us when we answer, etc. We’ve never had great service here but its steadily getting worse. My son doesn’t have the same issue when he uses his ATT phone during visits. HELP!!!

Same here in NJ. One bar if I am lucky. No full service at all. Paying a lot for 3 lines to get that bad service. Unless I am on wifi.

I am a truck driver that stays within Ga, and let me say there multiple places that calls and internet STINKS. I pay way to much money and times are to advanced for this to happen. I can have full bars and 5g and still drop calls or very slow internet. I rely on my phone for my job but how can i if it dont work!! Ive been a customer with verzion for about 27 years and its about to end if it dont get better. Oh and for my friends and i, anytime we go to Warner Robins Ga the service STINKS. My dad has T-mobile and he has no problems in Warner Robins. I dont understand, Verizon is suppose to be a big company with great service, but i guess not. Thanks!!

DEBBYWILLIAMS,

Being a truck driver, I can certainly understand why a solid connection is so important to you. Your 27 years of loyalty are greatly appreciated! Honing in on Warner Robins, what specific issues are you having with your service (calls, data, etc.)? What is your signal and strength showing currently?

I can be talking and calls dropped. I have to hang up and call them back. And maybe then  i can talk a few miles before the same thing happen. If we do happen to stay on the line its breaking up so bad i cant understand them.  Also the internet real slow at pulling anything up, all this in Warner Robins Ga., and while having full bars and 5g on both ends. My friends and I have newer apple phones and all up to date.

There are multiple people I know who are currently having network issues with Verizon.  Today I was within a half mile of Notre Dame campus and had one bar.  I continue to research this issue myself and according to this thread,

https://community.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-Wireless-Services/2021-Severe-Service-Degradation/td-p/1213...

this is a nationwide issue with no solution provided that started around the beginning of 2021 and has not been addressed.  This seems about right as to when I began experiencing issues as well.  At first I was thinking it could be a bandwidth issue due to allowing Comcast to use the towers, but my next thought was that maybe Verizon lost access to towers.  Now I believe that it is a combination of both.  The slow data is due to an overly congested network and the one bar service and lack of data in some areas has to be due to lack access to towers.  Here is a link to an article from 2015 where Verizon was selling and leasing their towers.

https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/verizon-offloads-towers-to-american-tower-for-5b

I believe all the customers that are having issues deserve an answer and as previously stated, I am not interested in taking this message private.  Sadly it's beginning to seem like taking my six lines elsewhere is going to be the only relief from this issue.
