Trade in Program a scam!

I just had something similar. I was given $275 for my iPhone 7+, but then got an email that because of an "unresponsive or cracked screen" it was lowered to only $138! It did not have either of these. I called, but of course they were no help. I guess Verizon gets to just adjust your agreed-upon price to whatever they please once the phone is in their hands. I would avoid this program completely, less you give up your phone and they have the power to do whatever they want. I tried to get the phone back, but of course they "can't do that". Naturally.

In August my wife decided to upgrade her phone. When I logged into our Verizon account it listed a trade price of $335 if it's in good shape. It was nice and didn't have any damage. We went to our local Verizon store and told them she wanted a iPhone X. We were trading a 7Plus. The sales rep mentioned about us sending it to Verizon for the trade credit. I said "no, not to be ignorant but I've heard of problems doing that". I told him I would really like to trade it there at the store. The man agreed and we got the credit of $335 for the trade which I later used to pay off my Apple watch. I've heard stories of Verizon claiming to never receive the phone sent or they claim damage that wasn't there before. I don't know the truth of it but I would never trust sending it to them. I'm sorry to hear of your disappointing situation.

Thanks. Yeah, learned my lesson I guess, I should've gone to the store. I've always found the Verizon folks very helpful in the stores on just about anything. Thought it would be the same experience. I'm hoping they can help resolve things.

So I actually got an email a week or two ago from Verizon on this, and got hopeful that maybe they wanted to make things right! Turns out they didn't, they've just ignored my responses to their email to me. Again disappointed. Wish I would have known this before renewing and doing the whole trade-in program, it has turned out very costly.

Hello, being on top of your offers is vital, especially if you are administering your trade ins. The last thing we want is for you to have a negative impression of us. We are here to help. Please tell us more, what exactly did the promotion consist of (terms/conditions, restrictions, process, etc.)? Have you reached out to Costco (if yes, what did they advise you)?
