UNLIMITED DATA PLANS! PLEASE BRING IT BACK VERIZON TO EVERYONE!

I think Verizon should bring back the Unlimited Data Plans because, many students uses so much Data for Videos for their homework and Videos takes up so much Data and there is no way an average family can afford to pay over $100 for a 20GB more Data plan and I think it would nice of Verizon if they would bring back the Unlimited Data Plan around $59/month at least because there are some people that need it for their homes. If you would also offer Unlimited Data Plan to the Mifi service, this would be a big competition with DSL and Cable providers for home internet. When families uses so much Data for Netflix or Rhapsody and Crackle, it takes so much Data and it is important for families to have Unlimited Data Usage for this entertainment. Verizon, I am going to say this, people like me does not like to be limited on how much we use the Internet. I am thankful even on my phone I have the Grandfather Unlimited Data Plan but if you ever take it away from me, I will leave Verizon and switch to Straight Talk. I have many friends I can tell and stir up some stuff with Verizon if this ever happens to me because, my Unlimited Data Plan means so much to me, the only reason I am bringing this up, to help other people who needs it too. I think Verizon has the best Coverage of all than any other provider but all I am asking is, do not take my Unlimited Data Plan from me and please bring it back for other people who needs it. Thanks so much time your time and support. Verizon Wireless Customers, please leave comments, I would love to hear your comments and thanks and have a Great Day!

Sorry, but my comment is that this topic has been discussed already and the situation hasn't changed much since the unlimited data plan went away.

You can always go to the one carrier that still has the unlimited data plan. However they might not have it forever either.

Why is companies controlling us on how much data we use? This is not right and how are we going to use Netflix? The Government needs to stop this data capping because we need unlimited data use for our entertainment. I am still going to fight this battle until it ends. Every-time I call Verizon Wireless bug them about this because I think Unlimited Data should stay and we have the right to our opinions.

Actually, Verizon is NOT controlling how much data you can use. You are able to use as much as you choose.

The only thing that has changed is how you pay for that data.

When unlimited data was first introduced, I don't think 3G speeds were even available and the price for unlimited data was determined by how much data THAT level of device could consume and the price has not risen since, even though the amount of data a device could consume has increased exponentially. Now with 4G speeds available on the majority of devices and in a growing area of the country, Verizon has decided to bring the cost of data up to the amount needed to sustain the network.

Considering that the amount of data a device can consume today is 20 to 30 times higher than what it was when unlimited data was first introduced, the price Verizon would have to charge to make this available would most likely be higher than what you would be willing to pay.

And it also is not very compelling when the reason you list is so that you can get your "entertainment".

You can use as much data as you want. You will need to pay for the privilege. Why should you get to use 100 GB per month for the same price as someone who uses 2 GB per month.

I think Verizon Wireless still should offer a Unlimited Data Plan for people that uses alot of Data. There are people that uses Youtube and NETFLIX alot so this why Unlimited Data is needs for these purposes. I even heard that Cable and DSL companies are planning on controlling us of how much Data we use too and this is not right, how they except college students like me to view class videos because, Videos uses so much Data. Just going on Youtube, I can use over 10GB of Data Usage and there is no way I can be able to afford $100 or more for internet usage. This needs to be stopped and we need our Unlimited Data Plan backs for everyone. I am happy right now that I still have my Unlimited Data Plan but I am trying to help other people because, I do care. Let me just add this too, everyone is not rich and we need unlimited data plans that people can afford and the only people that can pay $100 or more have to be making really good money and that is not fair. There are too many fixed income families who are trying to do better with internet usage for school work that uses online videos and there are many students like me that even uses Netflix for school videos that our professors has told us to do. This is why we need unlimited usage of the Internet. Verizon please Understand how much this means to people like me. Please bring Unlimited Data back and Thanks!

There are also other ways to access the internet and not all students have smartphones.

While most colleges require a computer for their classes(or at least highly recommend it), I don't think the same can be said for smartphones. Use your computer for this data usage while utilizing the resources provided by the college such as the library and wifi. A smartphone is a LUXURY YOU choose to have. There are OTHER ways if YOU MUST use this much data, but YOU may have to be resourceful.

Why are fixed income families on the most expensive carrier? Let alone owning smartphones.

I don't agree with tiered data either way. I wish they would do like a flat cap of 10gb for x amount of dollars and if you go over that, then you pay more. Put a data cap that no one can realistically hit without absuing, i mean REALLY abusing the service.

There is a disadvantage to unlimited data though, the person who is streaming and downloading all day can ruin it for a whole bunch of people in that area. But hey, they don't care, as long as they get theirs right? On one end, we have the happy user paying 30 bucks a month and doing like 200gb per month, while everyone else in the area has to suffer with sub par speeds because of this one individual.

Normal counter arguments is that the premiums are high, ceo gave him self a raise, vz is in the big profits, unlimited means unlimited no matter what, and a couple others I forget. They're valid points, and i do agree that the ceo could take some of his yearly earnings and put some of it back in the network. At the same time though, aren't projects like building cell towers done on a contract basis normally? So even if he is making ridiculous bank, it would be a moot point if he had already paid for the work to be done to the network.

Government isn't gonna do squat because it's each and every company's right to structure their plans how they wish and charge however much they wish.

Again, complaining doesn't do anything. Disconnect.

Your forgetting 1 point. While I agree with you as far as it stinking about not having unlimited data, Verizon is a company, and they are there to make money. It is not in their best interest to keep unlimited, when they can offer new plans that make you pay more. If you do not like their plan, switch carriers, it is your choice.

One chooses to do this.  They don't have to.  Being a college student it gives you access to their wifi network which since you are a student while you are in school it's free. One could even use a cheap laptop and do the same in their respective computer labs.

Sorry seems like a very poor excuse to get "unlimited" internet back, and being a poor college student when your college would provide it to you for free within their campus.

You can figure out why companies can't allow all their users to use hundreds of GB per month each? You seriously can't figure that out? Um if they did that their network would become useless. So you wouldn't need unlimited data because you 4G speeds would slow down to dial-up speed if it worked at all.

That being said their caps could be higher and pricing better an overages lower. The cost of bandwidth has dropped but overages increase 50%. Does not compute. Overages should have dropped to $5 per GB( which still is way too high ). Offer 10 GB for $50, 12 GB for $60, 14 GB for $70, 16 GB for $80, 18 GB for $90, 20 GB for $100, 30 GB for $150 and 50 GB for $200 and I'd be all over that Share Everything plan. Very few things one actually needs 4G speeds for outside of streaming video and since you can't use the current data plans for that much actually make 4G kind of pointless.

Rather than sit around complaining about data limits, when your Verizon contract ends, simply switch to another carrier which offers an unlimited plan. Simple solution to your complaint and you can stop stressing.

Here is how I look at it.

Fact: 95% of data users will use less than 2GB of data in a single billing cycle.

That being said, the cap on data is transparent to the greatest majority of users. Those that are affected negatively are the top 5%. of those top 5%, about 3% are using so much data, that it is causes services impacts for other users in the area or on the same towers.

I personally don't see it as a problem... I switched to the share everything plan and my monthly rate dropped 70 bucks for 3 lines... sure I'm limited now but I never used much before anyway... and If I wanted to go biserk crazy I could add tons more gb  usage to get back to the same price I was before   "extra 2 gig/10 dollars"... just how much you need to use????

Be smart.. download your songs onto a decent memory card and quit listening to the same ones over and over via streaming.

Do the same if you like movies.... 64gb card goes a long way.

I feel we should pay for what we use "I have no problem with that"... what I do have a problem with is when they tell us how to use it.... If I'm paying for 4gb of use... its nobodies business if I use it on my phone, tether it to my laptop of tether it to share the usage with friends... after all.. I'm paying for it.. It's mine!

But I don't think its reasonable to think we should have unlimited date.... notice they gave us unlimited talk and text but not data with the share everything plan?... because we can't tether talk and text, but we can data.....

Heck you could set up wireless access points and power a  whole neighborhood and charge money with the bandwidth of 4g.

I think thats the big clincher... "4G".. is much more subject to abuse that could be done with unlimited 4G than with 3G.....

Think about it!... everybody and their grandmothers dawg was getting free hotspot before with the free online apps..... share everything is more fair to the customer and the company.

Verizons biggest pocket of vulnerability now is those with unlimited data that get free hotspot "illegally" or pay the 20 bucks and share with with their whole trailer community!.... Jerry Springer special!

I get peeved when my internet speed suffers because people want to watch video streaming and constant songs. Watch cable or satellite for peets sake... movies are cheap.

I believe as the network gets more robust and bulletproof, data too will be unlimited.... just not today.

Your points would be more valid if Verizon didn't advertise that you should get 4G because you can stream movies and music at blazing speeds. As far as the unlimited texting and phone well they can offer that because they use basically very little data. You could send and receive 20,000 texts and it would use at most 3 MB. 1000 pic/video messages would be at most 200 MB. Even with phone 5000 minutes a month would use less than 500 MB.

And sure you can use wi-fi for music and video IF it's available, but doesn't that makes 4G pointless? It's like Verizon is saying "Hey here's this great new fast 4G technology. Just don't use it much".

Now I understand Verizon can't offer unlimited data. Heck my cable company can't even do that. But the 1 GB for $50 is just ridiculous. Especially when those on old pricing get it 5 GB for $50. I think if Verizon had kept the old pricing on data you see a lot less complaints. And 5 GB has been $50 for a few years now. Data prices have FALLEN in that time, so 5 GB shouldn't be more than $15 anyway.

I do agree that I think( or at least hope ) that Verizon will up the caps significantly when 4 things happen

A) they get 4G rolled out everywhere.

B) they get the spectrum purchased from the cable companies approved and repurposed for 4G

C) they kill off 2G and repurpose that spectrum for 4G

D) They get a significant amount of people off of unlimited.

I think still having millions of customers that can potentially use 100 GB or more and only paying $30 for it is preventing Verizon from offering more data to everyone else. A&B can be done within 18-24  months, C could take 5 years. D can happen whenever Verizon feels like it. I suspect within 2 years.

I think in maybe 10 years they can be in a position to kill off 3G and use that spectrum for 4G. Also by then they should have gotten more spectrum from the FCC incentive auction. Along with advances in technology I think they could offer unlimited in 10 years.
