What does "3G phones not supported" mean?

Does this mean (1) Verizon will no longer troubleshoot/fix issues on these 3G phones or (2) these
phones won't work at all on the network? Or both (1) and (2)?

We have retired our 3G network. 3G devices are no longer supported on our Verizon Wireless network.

Okay, my device is not supported, but again what does that mean? It still makes and receives calls, so as long as it's not broken is there any reason we can't just keep using it even though it's "not supported"?

We are glad you are asking for clarification on the 3G network, CHRMIT19. Your device will continue to work, but we will be retiring that service at the end of 2022. You can learn more about this here: http://spr.ly/6600JfTuM
