How Do I enther "+1" on iPhone when making an international call?

I'm blonde. Not how doesone enter + before a country code? There's a + beneath 0, but that makes a 0?

Press and hold the zero - it will register a plus and you'll see it on the screen. 

Just knowing to to ask the question makes far ahead of the curve!
