If I switch from one prepaid phone to another and keep my number, will my current balance transfer too?

I do pay-as-you-go and would like to know if the money I've already paid would remain, or if I'd have to start fresh.

New phones are always exciting and I know how important it is to keep your same number.  When transfering phones under prepaid all your account information will follow.
