Do I really need a international plan to use my phone, or can I use wifi to get my text messages and send text messages and use social media with wifi? I was hoping that I could just turn on airplane mode and then wifi so no data gets used while traveling in Europe. I'll be traveling for 20 days
We want to make sure you're able to use your phone to communicate in the best way that works for you while traveling, neverpar. You do have the option of putting the phone into airplane mode before leaving the U.S. This will ensure no Verizon service comes through on the phone. While in airplane mode, you will be able to use Wi-Fi on the device for data services. Text messages require a cellular connection to send and receive.
