Can you upgrade from prepaid to a regular Verizon Wireless voice plan? And how does one do this?
My prepaid plan was perfect for me in the past, but now that people from my office call me all the time on it, I'm finding the cost to be less than practical.

Yes, you can do this. All you have to do is call Verizon customer service (dial *611 from your phone) and ask for them to start a new post-paid account for you and bring over your pre-paid balance. They will either credit it to your new postpaid account, or mail you a check. You can also do this process in store.
If you do not want a contract (you don't have to have one on postpaid, you can go month-to-month), you just need to be sure that your current pre-paid device has been in use for 6 months. If it has, you can use it on postpaid Verizon service, and since you are not getting a subsidized phone, you don't need to sign up for a contract.
If you do sign up for a contract, you can get a new phone at the 1 or 2-year contract price depending on what contract length you choose. Customer service should also be able to port your existing number for you.
Hope that helps!

When we went from prepaid to postpaid I think they gave us some kind of credit for what we had on our prepaid phones as we had a lot because of the left over carrying over from month to month. Can't remember all the details but I know they did something for us but we signed a 2yr. contract and didn't go month to month so maybe that's why. Mary

Acraftylady - Your right you can transferr from a prepaid to a contract phone they will either put the balance of your prepaid account towards the price of the contract phone or send a check for the balance of what is on the prepaid. Its stated in the prepaid contract.

I think they actually applied it towards the first bill but that was about 3yrs. ago and my memory is not the best for things. Mary
