Using another carrier's SIM while making installment payments for phone

I will be traveling to another country soon, and would like to use another carrier's SIM when doing so. My iPhone 8 was recently purchased from Verizon and I am paying for it each month. Can I use another carrier's SIM card? I would not port the number.

@CarolinasFan That is a great question. If the device has been active on the VZW network, it can be activated for international use. While we cannot guarantee the service, we can assure you that you can attempt to activate it with an international SIM Card. -EdgarT_VZW
