Just a few days ago my Moto Z stopped letting me take pictures, screenshots, downloads, or update apps, and some apps (like Amazon) crash to moment I try to launch them. When I try these things, it gives me an error about not having enough storage space, but I've already freed up over 2 Gigabytes & still nothing. Any ideas what the heck is wrong with my phone, or better yet maybe how to fix it (preferably without having to resort to a factory reset)?

Do you have an SD card in the phone? If so, how was it originally formatted, as external storage or adoptive internal storage?

So an SD card could cause this behavior? Interesting, have never seen that happen before. If all else fails factory reset the phone.

When an SD card is formatted as adoptive internal storage the phone merges the SD card and internal phone storage into one lump "space". It is known to cause all sorts of issues, which is why most IT people and Android techies recommend to never format as adoptive internal and always use it as external storage. SD cards go bad, and if it is merged with the phone's default internal storage as one big storage pool, who knows what all weird issues will arise.

Given all the complaints about these moto Z phones I doubt it's an SD card issue. Most people I know use their SD cards as external storage and wouldn't think of using one for internal storage. One thing to try is a factory reset or contact moto ans see what they suggest.
