Of course there are. I've seen some say the end of the year, but that's rapidly approaching. Others say early 2015. You can check the Motorola site and keep an eye out here on the forum for updates.

When I bought my 2013 Moto X one of the selling points for me was this was a "flagship phone" and would be on the "fast track" for updates since it had a more pure version of the Android OS. I think we can all agree that was a bold face lie. Motorola typically makes a solid phone, but by having so many different models, with apparently such different hardware components that it is difficult to make an OS work with all your phones, you're screwing yourself. Corrections, you're screwing you customers! You may want to take a page from the iPhone playbook and not have such radically different hardware (chipsets, processors, etc.) options, and just offer different software features or screen sizes if you want to offer so many different devices.
Sincerely,
Very Frustrated Moto X owner

Software updates are exciting! We have no info on the nest update or the Moto X. Keep checking our software release page for updates http://vz.to/1z8kGDU .

Do announcements of software updates appear on that page? It looks like a generic page for any phone and happens to have Moto X at the top.

I prefer my Moto X 2013 model running Android 4.4.4 KitKat just as it is. The tech sites are reporting Motorola is working on Lollipop update for the 2013 model. With Google keep releasing maintenance and bug fixes for the Stock Android version, Motorola is likely holding off releasing anything until the base OS is more stable and Motorola can incorporate those changes in the version for the Moto X. Last I heard, they were looking at the Android 5.1 version as the build version slated for the Moto X. I had enough issues with Lollipop on my tablet that I glad Motorola is taking their time to get it RIGHT.
Now I'm out of here...

I solved my Moto X/Lollipop problem and bought an iPhone 6! Love the phone and I am sure when they release iOS9 later this year, it will work with both of the current iPhones. Actually, it sounds like it will work with the 4S or newer....what a concept...Android should consider that! Oh yeah, that would be too hard because there are so many Android devices out there. Good luck with that Lollipoop update guys!

There were bugs when iOS 8 was released. There will be bugs in iOS 9 guaranteed.

This really isn't an issue with Verizon. It is an issue with Lenovo. When Google announced they were buying Motorola I was super excited. My two all time favorite cell phones of all times were Motorola! Now, with them selling to Google, updates will be quick I thought. Well, I don't remember when Google offloaded Motorola but I was disappointed. I'm not a fan of Lenovo. There computer are worth anything so their cell phones must also stink. So, needless to say, Lenovo started going crazy with the Moto lines and now look at it. Another failed item and more broken promises. Good job!

RReuther,
Congratulations on the new car! Those are always so exciting. No word on any new software updates for that device yet. As soon as any information from the manufacture becomes available we will definitely let our customers know.

Now officially released. Look for the update prompt, or you can manually check for it in Settings/About Phone.

Uh, yeah. It is released and it is killing my Moto X (2013). I've told my wife to not update her phone. I have A LOT of patience when it comes to technology but this nightmare is driving me crazy. She has no patience for tech glitches.
My phone is now draining the battery VERY quickly. I unplugged by phone at 6AM this morning. I read some news and e-mails then let it sit until 8:30am. It was down to 60% battery left. My day was just starting. And performance has tanked as well. The phone runs VERY slow. Sometimes I wonder if it knows that I touched something on the screen. There have been a few times that the phone does something minutes after I asked it to. There have actually been times that I have forgotten that I pushed something on my phone then was surprised minutes later when the phone started to do things seemingly on its own.
Any help? I've clear the cache a few times, so skip that one. Also, if you restart the phone while connected to a charger, it will go through the optimizing apps sequence at start-up. That is about 15-20 minutes that you cannot use your phone. VERY ANNOYING. I have actually considered the until now unthinkable possibility of joining the iPhone darkside. There are many things I found annoying about the iPhone (I have a work issued iPhone), but it seems to have far fewer problems with upgrades. And that makes me sad...

Just chatted with Motorola (very nice support feature). They had me clear the cache again. Apparently, I didn't do it right the first time. It took a few minutes to complete. We'll see if that fixes it. Crossing fingers.

I had done a factory reinstall and that didn't take care of the problem. 😞 Did clearing the cache work for you? (Should I bother trying that, since I did a factory reinstall? I can Google the answer - you don't have to tell me.)
Over the last few weeks I've spent hours trying to figure out a fix for Lollipop draining my battery. Tonight I began working on downgrading to Kit Kat, only to find out I can't do it because I can't unlock my phone (since it's not the Developer edition). This is infuriating.
The problem seems to be with "mobile radio active", which doesn't turn itself off when it's not needed.
