I keep getting an ad for McDonalds that WILL NOT GO AWAY!!! I close it and within seconds it is back. How do I stop this???? I am ready to throw this stupid phone away and go back to my basic phone!!!!

Did it start popping up after you installed a particular app? If so, it is probably that app sending it. You might want to uninstall it.

words with friends, dice with buddies.. a lot of apps install these free apps that pop up

As others have noted, free apps will sometimes have ads as part of the package ... that's how they can provide the apps free. To check which app it might be, download/install Lookout 's Ad Network Detector from Google Play, then run it.

Two apps that get rid of ads are AdAway and AdFree...both in the Play Store.

I ahve downloaded both apps, but cannot run them because my phone is not 'rooted'. What does that mean? I downloaded a program from CyanogenMod, but that app does not open. Any suggestions?
