Anyone find a fix for sync problem between Droid Razr Maxx and AOL or Yahoo email?

Had the Droid Razr Maxx HD for 2-months without problems. Then, this past week it stopped syncing with my AOL and Yahoo email accounts. It won't allow me to uninstall either account for a reinstall so I don't know if that would fix the problem or not. As of today, it has also decided my email usernames and passwords are incorrect although both accounts are working just fine on my pc... just not on my Droid. Any info and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you can remove the account, do so and re-add them under the "Other" account type.
You can also try the Yahoo app in the Play store. There might be one for AOL too.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I've seen at least three related threads the past few weeks with folks with various phones and e-mail services (but mainly Yahoo and AOL) talking about similar issues (POP accounts, not IMAP). Some are having luck setting their e-mail up as an 'Other' account, others are using apps such as K-9. One poster reported yesterday or the day before that they'd talked with a Verizon rep who said that the issue was with Verizon's servers and that it hopefully would be fixed in a few days.

If you are interested in all the gory details, here's the threads I was talking about:

Thanks tikibar1, I read all these threads and tried every suggested fix from the Verizon forums and also Droid forums until my fingers bled. After having thought I had crashed my phone permanently with someone's advice to wipe the cache (likely my fault as opposed to the advise), I gave up on the stock android email app. I downloaded two email apps from playstore - the Yahoo Mail app and something else called "Maildroid" which works with AOL mail. No more problem... at least for now. I'll wait for Verizon, Droid, AOL, Yahoo or whoever to sort out the problem and provide a solution. For now though, count me out.

You're welcome. I've never had an issue with my Yahoo account, but it's set up as an IMAP account. Yahoo has always seemed a bit squirrelly and folks seem to have better luck using the Yahoo Mail app. Glad you found a work-around. Happy New Year!

Settings...Add account... Email Account... led me back to 'searching for existing accounts' and ultimately back to the loop of verifying existing accounts and check username or password are correct.
Choosing other mail apps from Play Store worked for me.
Sent from my android device.

I set up my AOL account under "other" and it fixed the problem. I had the same issue with the phone not syncing and not accepting the correct AOL password. Found setting it up under "other" worked great and now emails are coming through. Hope this helps.

Could someone tell me how to access the "other" function? I cannot get to this screen in order to set up a new account. Stays locked and insists that my passwords are incorrect. This is ridiculous! Could someone from Verizon PLEASE address all the inquiries on this subject!!!???

The problem seems to be the account name, not the password. AOL and Yahoo use screen names to access email instead of email addresses.

Using the Yahoo email app gives you more flexibility with your email account so I would(and do) use that instead of the android email app.

I too had this working fine until 12/29 or so . . VZW must have changed something in their settings. Gsmith > I just tried to use my Screen name in lieu of email addresses in the AOL email account and it would not accept the SN as it was not a valid 'email address' with @xxx.com.
I just finished setting up AOL Email using the "Other" designation (below Corp Email in the list) and the email account and 'mail' showed up IMMEDIATELY. I wish Versizon (or any other service) would notify their Customers that changes were made to fine tune their system so we would have some idea why things like this happen . . .
