A three foot drop from my shirt pocket to the concrete floor proved fatal for my unprotected Droid Razr. The result was` in a shattered 'gator glass'. This of course necessitated a replacement which was handled promptly and professionally by Asurion.
The gator glass screen is advertised to be very resistant to scratches which probably means it is 'tempered glass'. The tempering process, whether steel or glass creates a more brittle compound. I recalled this bit of wisdom just as the mule kicked me in the gut. Insured or not, there's nothing like picking up a trashed $300 phone to give one that OOPS feeling!
Since Asurion replacements are refurbished, there was an delay of a few days while they no doubt waited for some other darned fool to trash & return theirs. Replacements are usually mailed next day with next day shipping included. That, in my opinion is just plain awesome!
Seeing the error of my ways, I ordered an Otterbox Defender protective case the same day as I contacted Asurion about my goof. I highly recommend that you NOT get the cart in front of the horse like I did... GET THE OTTERBOX FIRST!

Good to hear you was taken care of.... Also I think you are speaking of Gorilla Glass instead of Gator Glass..
