I am on my third replacement phone. Anyone else having battery problems, 7 hours to charge - goes dead by morning - gets hot, type issues? Or no sound issues.

If you have a Razr Maxx it will Take 6 to 7 hours to Fully Charge it.. if you Fully Depleted it. When i charge my two Maxx's i first let them Run Down to were they power of them Selves i use to power them off my self when They Had 5% percent left but after reading Some updated information from Motorola on running down the Battery and Recharging i changed my Method of charging it and as i mentioned i do it with the phone off. And i use only the Motorola Charger that Came with it or i use one of my Motorola O.E.M Travel chargers..
You said it was Getting hot if your charging and using it at the Same Time it will get warm but it shouldn't get were you cant't hold it if it does Stop what ever your doing and let it coll down.. You have remember the Device is trying to do many things at once it's trying charge and what ever your putting it Through, Talking, Texting, Running apps and trying to Communicate with the Tower.
But if you run it Down and Charge it as i mentioned i think you'l have some better results give it a try and See.. b33

I use my phone for work and need it 24/7. Don't want to turn it off(loose
money). I really think one shouldn't have to turn off their phone for it to
work properly.

First, you don't have to turn it off. You can put it to sleep. Any incoming call will wake it up. Actually, turning off the phone isn't a bad idea. Much like a computer, turning it off will clean up extraneous junk..
Second, no battery stays good forever. They do need to be recharged. What you can do is plug it in to charge it and leave the phone on. You do not have to shut it off to charge it.

You do not have to turn off the phone to charge it, but, it's a phone with a battery, it needs to be charged. You can either keep it plugged in all the time, or when the battery gets low, plug it in and use it. nothing to it. 7 hours to charge it is not outrageous, but the life of the battery depends on what you use it for, and what your signal strengths are.

Well what i was trying to drive Home is.. it's a Good Cycle to do this for the batteries and to refresh the Phone when you go turn it back on. But not every one can nor every one will and every one doesn't have two smart phones as i have to where they can use one while the other is off & charging.
So i understand the reason for leaving it on.. b33

my charging/battery life issues were resolved by clearing the dalvik cache and an FDR.
Cache Wipe:
- Press and hold the Power button and turn the phone off.
- When the screen turns off, press and hold BOTH Volume buttons then press Power.
- When the white HBOOT screen appears, use the volume button to move down to “RECOVERY.”
- Press the Volume Up button to select “RECOVERY.”
- When the triangle and exclamation(Dead Android) appears, hold the Volume Up and Down button at the same time.
- Using the volume button, scroll down to “Wipe cache partition” and use the power button to select it.
- When it is done you will see another menu, scroll down with Volume Down button “Reboot system now" and select it with the Power Button.

I never turn mine off to charge it but i do shut it off once a day which i think is agood idea as mortb said. It shouldnt get real hot but it will get warm especially if your charging it while your using it. When i plug mine in at night to charge im only down to 60 percent or so and it does take a few hours to top off . Did your previous phones have the same problems? Smash has a good idea to try before calling in another replacement. These phones are basically laptops that you can make calls on so cleaning things like the cache makes everything run a bit smoother and play nice together. Jesse

That is 1 of the things that Motorola suggests, to restart it once a day. Not everyone does this, but it was something they suggested.

goshdarnit, I just want to check on you to see how the replacement is holding up for you.
Is it still getting hot? It is normal for the phone to become warm with extended use, however it shouldn't get extremely hot to the touch.

Talked to Motorola directly they were no help. The phone got so hot it just
stopped working, froze wouldn't work, wouldn't turn off. Finally received
some good help from a wonderful Verizon tech, Michelle. She replaced that
awful 4th Droid Maxx with a Samsung Galaxy S III. By far a much better
phone. Thanks for your help.
