After my ice cream sandwich update, I keep getting blank emails dated December 31, 1969. The email sender is blank and the message is blank but it is dated December 31, 1969. Apparently this is a Unix time/date stamp error. I did a master reset but this did not fix the problem. Does anyone know how to fix?

Hello TWODOG,
Out of all of the various methods of communication, emails continue to be at the forefront of wireless technology. From spreadsheets to virtual birthday cards to e-statements, emails continue to evolve to meet customer’s needs. May I ask who is you email provider? Can I assume that you do not have an email in your inbox dated 12/31/1969? I would suggest removing the email account from the device, reboot the phone, and re-add the email manually to see if the issue persists! Do you have the email settings from your provider to manually setup the account? If not then I would suggest contacting your email provider to get this information. Below is the required information that is needed to manually setup an email address.
• Service Provider or email account name
• Incoming Server
• Incoming port number
• Incoming username and password
• Incoming security technology (SSL etc.)
• Outgoing server
• Outgoing port number
• Outgoing username and password
• Outgoing security technology (SSL, etc.)
• User name and password
Once you have all of the information above then please setup the email manually. If you get any error messages or run into any issues then please note as they may help us going forward. Also, another suggestion is to download a 3rd party email app to use. In either case, may I ask that you post your findings just in case more assistance is needed?
Thank you…

Been there, done that. The problem keeps coming back.
This issue is widely noted all over the web, happening with various phones, and nothing seems to resolve it at the phone end. System issue, it would seem. Surely one fine day Verizon can figure out what is happening and spare us all the wasted time and annoyance.
12/31/1969 is the date before the zero date for Linux. (TIme is kept in seconds since the go-live date.) Certain errors will result in a "-1" stamp, thus 12/31/1969.
