Can't get screen to activate

My phone was just fine last night when I called my brother, but when the conversation ended, and time to hang up phone, I had a blank screen. The blank screen was there for most of the night, I woke up this morning, and had a screen, but it would not recognize my touch, then it went to black screen, I can't get it to do anything. I took the battery out and put it back in, charged it over night. Not sure what else to do, anybody?

You said you "took the battery out and put it back in", and you've posted this in the Droid Razr Maxx section.  The Razr Maxx has a nonremovable battery.  Which phone do you have?

I realized that when I attempted to do so. Is there a way to reset the phone?

You can try holding the power and volume down buttons simultaneously for 15-30 seconds.
