Cant erase Google Search History

Okay I cannot tell you when this all started unless Ice Cream Sandwich + Droid Razr has a conflict; in which I can say 'end of june=problem started'

Basically its like this (I'll enclose pics).  On the Droid Razr you click your magnifying glass lower right bottom of screen and you'll get a screenshot like this:

Searches.jpg

Now once you use your menu function and click "settings" you'll eventually come across a page that looks like this:

CantErase.jpg

Now as you can see the black checkmark.....the "Clear On Device Search History" is disabled.....why?

Okay heres the situation.....every month my cell phone provider "Verizon" resets; new month...so clean slate of browsing and text messages and phone calls.  So the night before the reset I erase everything and start from scratch; and I'd like to erase my searches as well.

Now I can erase my Internet Cache no problem but for some odd reason even after erasing my internet cache theres still something that appears in the google search when I touch the magnify glass on my droid razr.  Only instead of browsing history its NAMES...and according to Motorola's tier 2 Tech Support they said the best way to clear the names that appear in that field is to be able to erase the history....but like I said...I cant.

They had me boot into safe mode, choose recovery and erase application cache but problem still persisted.  And they even had me perform a factory reset and that still didnt do the trick. So I'm at a loss.

COMMUNITY: Does your Droid Razr (standard or Maxx) have ICS and can you erase your history from that screen? If it appears, then its my device and there should be a way to enable it.  If you cannot then perhaps its the ICS software and there isnt a way....and if there isnt a way thru normal means does anyone else know of a way to erase names that appear within the search button?

Heres the irony....I never use that button, never.  So that means I dont go searching for 'names in my contacts' I just click 'people' and scroll down myself.

And that "Oregon Climatogical Data", WTH!!! I've even disabled Google Playbooks (cause thats the app it launches) and I've done a search on my phone for that and I cannot find and delete it, so why does it keep showing up? Grrr.

Thanks Smiley Happy

Didnt work.  The "Clear on Device" is still grayed out and when I hit spacebar and backspace a email address still appears in the search area; even though I personally didnt search for an email address Smiley Sad

lol i've tried that too. on my desktop PC when I log into browser (google) and look at web/history it says "unavailable" but I can log into my phone via Magnify Glass>Search Settings>Manage, I then can 'delete all' (if anything WAS there) but even after that; problem still persists.

Hmmm okay thank you; that did solve that issue.  Or rather a temporary fix.

Yes I did say I never use that search button but I guess I'm just still wondering about the whole concept of it now Smiley Happy  You see I have a MSN acct and a Gmail acct and when I read tweets I usually utilize my gmail acct to share the tweet to my MSN acct so I can view it on a desktop PC; so though I erased history that email address still appeared.

Prior to doing a factory reset on my device I had other names appear in the list.  Keep in mind once a month I send/receive text messages from over at least 12 different people but after clearing out some cache and data only about 4 remained.....were they the top contributors? Nope  But perhaps users like me and you may not fully understand the concept of that function I dont know.

Also I have another forum going with Motorolas website, a couple other users have reported the "Clear on Device" is greyed out for them as well.
