Has anyone been able to get Comcast email to work both ways on Verizon with Razr Maxx or Razr using ICS. I have no problem receiving email I just can't sent from either account. Incoming settings POP3 -mail.comcast.net Port :110 Security type: none Authentication method : Password
Outgoing:smtp.comcast.net Port: 587 Security : none.
If I am on WI-FI in the house Port 25 for outgoing works fine but not on Verizon Network.

If you go into settings on your Comcast account, you don't have sync over wi-fi only box checked by chance? Just hoping it was something simple. Originally, my comcast email wasn't working with ICS. I deleted them and then made new accounts. So far they have been working like a dream (4 different accounts). Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

My settings are the same as yours (which are the same as my computer). When you set up a new Comcast account, click manual setup. It will still configure the account automatically. Hope this helps.

There are many many Posts about this issue so I can't recall which one I saw it in but, another user said that they had to put in their username and password on the outgoing server settings...

Yes, I think I finally got it to work outgoing. Here are the settings for comcast.
Port: 587
Security type: None
Require sign in : check
Authentication Method : Plain
User Name
Password
This seems to work with both WI-FI and with Verizon Network.

My Razr Maxx has had email problems for the past 2-3 months. The guy at the Verizon store was no help and said for me to call Verizon Technical support and Comcast. I deleted the email account changed settings, verified everything with Verizon technical support and the same with Comcast. It appears to involve the 4G Network and wi-fi. Verizon needs to find the glitch and offer an upgrade. Maybe it is time to switch carriers.

Bpearce, don't do anything rash like change providers for something I'm sure that we can fix. Did you try the steps that Jallis previously posted? The server settings he posted match what's on Motorola's website and have worked well for many others. Here is a link to Motorola's common email settings as well: http://bit.ly/V2p2P8.

"Flaky" email updates seem to not only affect Comcast email accounts but every other email account I've ever set up with the razr maxx. After many frustrations, I just had my Comcast email forwarded to my Yahoo Mail app installed on my phone: I don't like doing this and it shouldn't be necessary, but it seems to work. In all fairness, I did set up a Comcast email account the other day (just to see if things have improved), and so far (knock, knock) it has been updating fine. But then again, my work email account which had been updating in a timely fashion, all of a sudden stopped doing so yesterday. Powered down/back up this morning, and now work email has updated. It all seems to depend on which way you're holding your mouth or maybe the network "just gets tired."

I tried for 2 yrs to get Comcast on first a Samsung and U.S. Cellular and then with Verizon and Razr maxx. The only thing that worked was a message about clearing the partition from Motorola. I'm putting the whole message on here but I'd done all the first steps repeately with every port and option you could do.
Thanks for reaching out to Motorola.
We do apologize for the
inconvenience. Do not worry, we will do our best to assist you on
this.
Regarding your concern, the outgoing port number for Comcast email
is 587 or 465.
For further troubleshooting, please follow the steps
below.
A. Power the phone off and on.
B. Make sure that the phone
is connected to the internet
C. Remove and add the email
account.
To remove an account:
Go to the phone's Settings
Tap
Accounts and sync
Tap the email account that you want to remove
Tap remove
account
To add the account back, please follow the link below.

D.
Perform the clear partition steps.
Clearing the partition will remove any
temporary files that may be causing the problem, but will not delete your files
or settings.
1. Power the phone off. Then, power it up by pressing the
VOL UP + VOL DOWN KEY together + POWER KEY .
2. The device will enumerate
with different BOOT OPTIONS
3. Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL and VOL UP Key
to SELECT
4. Select Recovery
5. The device will start up with Motorola
logo and power up to a little Android man logo with Exclamation mark
6. Press
the VOL UP and VOL DOWN Key together at this screen
7. The device will
display BLUE Text on a Black background.
8. Use the VOL DOWN Key to scroll
DOWN and the POWER Key to SELECT the option desired.
9. In this case, press
the VOL DOWN key till the cache partition wipe is selected and press the POWER
key to confirm the selection.
10. The device will then start performing the
partition wipe
11. Once the Formatting is complete, press the POWER key to
confirm a REBOOT
12. The message rebooting is displayed on the phone.
13.
The device will reboot and start the normal power up sequence.

Thanks, Abby. The first "fix" sounds all too familiar, but I'll give the partition thing a whirl. Wonder how often you have to do that? lol. Android phones with these issues and their privacy concerns make me long for the days with my Blackberry. But, Blackberry is on its death throes and I hate Apple, so what am I left with. Bill

System cache clears are often done after an operating system update (such as ICS) or when things are operating differently but you aren't ready to go for a factory reset. System cache clears help in a lot of instances.
There are numerous issues of various e-mail accounts not working correctly with Android, for whatever reason. Some blame Verizon, some blame Google ... whatever the reason, workarounds include setting your e-mail up as an 'other' account, using the appropriate app from Google Play (like it sounds like you've been doing with Yahoo), or using a different e-mail client like K-9 (also available from Google Play).

My Comcast email worked on my Razr Maxx for many months, suddenly stopped working a few weeks ago. Still fine over Wi-Fi with no port changes or any other settings changes, but wouldn't send or receive over the network, even when I went into the phone settings and forced 3G CDMA through the backdoor which some said worked when 4G wouldn't. Seems like a ton of people have been having the same problem, and apparently it's on the end of Verizon's servers. In any case, the only thing that worked for me was to download Comcast's XFINITY Connect Droid app. Immediately, email works fine again. Thought I'd post as a workaround for others that's quick and easy, even though Verizon really needs to just fix the issue on their end.
