According to the manual when I plug my phone into my computer I should see that little squiggle thing indicating that they are connected. But the only thing the phone does is charge. The phone is not being recognized by my computer and that makes it a little difficult to transfer music. Doesn't work with the moto crap either. Please help!!!

There should be a section of the manual that talks about the default computer connection. Yours is set to "charge only". You can change it by pulling down the notification window and touching the connection mode to change it to "mass storage device" or mount as disk drive".
You can also change the default connection mode in the settings. I am not sure where it is located in your phone.

Ok so here is where I am at....I rebooted the phone as Tidbits suggested, uninstalled the drivers from my computer, reinstalled and then rebooted that as well. Still no go. The computer will not recognize the phone or the phone won't recognize the computer..not really sure which at this point. As I stated yesterday at 9:36 pm, before most of this conversation was deleted, there is nothing in the notificaiton bar or window to let me click on anything or change anything. The only thing the phone will do is charge from the cable. I can not find anything in the settings or the manual that talks about changing the default computer connection. Sooooo here I am again needing help from someone that actually reads what I post before answering.

Walk into a Verizon store and have them try it on their computer. If it does not work then they should be able to give you a replacement.

I use Zumocast on my Droid 3 and I think that should be an option for all devices.

By chance when you go to the Harware Manager does it show any drivers missing or disabled? You can tell by a question mark, astriks or exclimation point next to the drive profile..

The only thing that I think that hasn't been suggested is if you verified that the cable was fully seated in the phone and computer?
Or if you can try a different cable?
I hope you have better luck with tech support and you get it figured out.
The other option is to transfer via wifi.
I use Estrongs file explorer and create a LAN connection to a "server" aka my computer and transfer files that way. It may take a little bit of time to set it up, but I found it was worth it.
