Data Connection Dropped....

I just recently made a switch thinking I was going to save myself a little money each month, Here is what I had and what I went to:
PREVIOUS PLAN/EQUIPMENT:
Droid 2 - Unlimited talk/data
LG-VL-600 - Broadband card - 80G/month
REPLACED WITH:
Droid Razor - Unlimited talk/data and Mobile Hotspot
Dropped the broadband card and decided to use razor as my internet connection
Here is my new set of Issues, which I should have known better, everytime I make a change with Verizon, a new set of problems arise that I either just have to get used to or end up not using features that I am locked into for 2 years.....
The 4G on the phone itself does not seem ANY faster than the 3G from my old Droid 2. My broadband card was extremely fast when connected to 4G. Now sitting at the same desk in the same town, as when I used my broadband card, the Razor flutters back and forth between 3G and 4G and after initiating the Mobile Hotspot, after about 5 minutes my razor kicks my laptop off the network and then spends 2-3 minutes trying to regain the connection. Once it regains the connection, it is fine for about another 5 minutes and then does it all over again. I fired up my desktop to try that and it is doing the same thing. Is there some setting I can go change? It seems as though the problem lies in the phone, not the coverage from Verizon and not the distance between the mobile hotspot (razor) and the computer. They are right next to each other. I never had a problem with the LG broadband card. The pantech was a paperweight!! That POS NEVER worked!! But the LG was great, Thinking I should go back to that... Unless someone can help me figure out this out. Not worth the money at all!! And of course if you miss Verizons 14 day return by 20 seconds, your stuck with there junk for 2 years.... so I need to get this figured out quickly, cause Verizon apparently does not understand what it means to work on the road, needing to have a solid internet connection, and sometimes 14 days is not enough time to get back to civilization to address the many problems I have had with there service and equipment over the years..... I want my bag phone back!!!!

How do I set up and use the DROID RAZR Mobile Hotspot?
Note: A software update is now rolling out, and includes enhancements in HotSpot performance and more. Click here for full details
You can make your smartphone a Wi-Fi hotspot to provide portable, convenient internet access to other Wi-Fi enabled devices.
Caution: This application significantly impacts battery life. You may want to run this application with the charger connected.
Note: You need to subscribe to Wi-Fi hotspot service to use this feature. Contact your service provider.
To set up your smartphone as a Wi-Fi hotspot:
- Turn off Wi-Fi power by touching Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi.
- From the home screen, touch Apps > Mobile Hotspot > Mobile Hotspot to turn on the hotspot.
- Touch Configure Mobile Hotspot to change hotspot security and configuration settings:
• Network SSID—Enter a unique name for your hotspot and touch Next
• Security—Select the type of security you want, and touch Save: WEP, WPA, or WPA2. Enter a unique password. Other users can access your Wi-Fi hotspot only if they enter the correct password.
Note: Keep it secure. To protect your phone and hotspot from unauthorized access, it is strongly recommended that you set up hotspot Security (WPA2 is the most secure), including password.
• Broadcast Channel—Select a channel that minimizes potential interference. You may need to try different channels after your hotspot is active for a time. - Touch Save when the settings are complete. When your Wi-Fi hotspot is active, other Wi-Fi enabled devices can connect by entering your hotspot’s SSID, selecting a Security type, and entering the correct Wireless password.
When your Wi-Fi hotspot is active, other Wi-Fi enabled devices can connect by entering your hotspot’s SSID, selecting a Security type, and entering the correct Wireless password.
Troubleshooting tips:
Cannot access certain web sites using computer browser
If you're unable to connect to certain sites, try performing a force reboot. If that doesn't work try using a different browser such as Firefox, Internet explorer or Google chrome. Ensure the browser version is up to date.
When other devices can't connect to your device
Obtain the MAC address
To obtain the MAC address:
- Press the Menu key from the Home Screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap About Phone.
- Tap Status and scroll to Wi-Fi Mac address.
Wireless Lan Supported Specs (Mobile hotspots)
- Open (unsecured)
- WPA2 PSK (secured)
Unable to establish connection with the phone
- The wireless network may not be in range or has too of a weak signal to provide a successful connection. Check the signal bar to ensure you have strong connection.
- Re-enter the key on the device to match the key configured on your phone. Make sure that the encryption type and security settings match on the device and your phone.
- If WPA2 PSK encryption is in use, check that the key configured on the device matches the key entered on the phone.
- "Forget" the connection. This will clear the connection and allow you to reinitialize with the your phone.
- Turn off the connection from your device, turn the phone connection off. Turn back on your device first, then wait for 1 minute and then turn on and enable your hotspot to your phone.
Connection keeps dropping
- Make sure your WiFi sleep policy isn't timing out prematurely on your device. (Found under the Mobile Hotspot settings > Inactivity timeout)
- Wi-Fi sleep policy maybe set to: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes, or Never Turn-Off; try using Never Turn-Off, to prevent your connection from dropping (May incur high data charges and overages)
