Dead Maxx with with light in corner of screen

My daughter also has a Maxx, and she called me because she was charging the Maxx via usb, and she said the screen went black and she was unable to power up the phone. She did a hard reset and tried to power up and the phone never progressed past the droid animation and went black with a white light now in the corner of the phone. I told her to call tech support, but I just wanted to ask if this is the white light of death, looking at similar postings of this same event in the search function?

Spurs21 did you charge from the Computer or from the O.E.M cord an charger doing so from the Original equipment is the best way to go there have been many folks get burned by using the U.S.B hooked to the Computer. You might be able to get it to work if you can take the phones to the Store an have them flashed. You can also try pulling the Sim an then waiting a few seconds an re installing it Watch the Gold contact on the Sim. An i would try having a new Sim sent out but i know it must be frustrating to have a working phone to then have it Doink on ya. Good luck Buddy an i Hope there's a Quick solution for both of your phones Let us Know. B33

Yeah, I really don't know why she charges via usb, she has many wall chargers from other phones that use micro usb chargers, as well as the Maxx charger. Maybe she was somewhere where she wasn't  near a wall plug. She's attending college in another state, so I told her to call VZW tech support. She has a back up phone, but she'll have to get another sim to activate it. Hopefully they'll help her resolve the situation, we do have insurance and equipment protection on the phone.

Yea using the O.E.M stuff is the way to Go an is in my Arsenal of chargers i have.  I use Motorola for both Car charging an Home an the one thing that gets me with Verizon is you have to get a phone or a bundle pack to get an additional Charger my thinking is you sell the phones you carry the O.E.M chargers to work with them instead of buying a Universal one. But i am not the C.E.O of Verizon so what little ol B33 wants he doesn't always get O well but there are other places you can pick up a Moto Charger The Motorola Store has them an Android Central has them for $15.00 bucks an some S&H So they are out there an Usually all Moto chargers will work with all the Moto Phones an Bluetooth Headsets.

Turns out once she called tech support they told her to plug the phone in with the wall charger and the phone was revived! The moral of this story is not to charge your phone with a usb, use provivded charger, or as you said B33, OEM chargers for your product.. Yes, I have used generic micro USB chargers, but always try to use OEM if all possible.

That's the best bet to use the O.E.M Products as much as can so that you don't have to worry about any back lash from the ones that sold the device to ya an or the Manufacture an it clearly points that out in the opening credits of every manual.   B33
