Do not attempt to open phone

My Razr recently froze this weekend and with customer service closed and my only nearby verizon store with techs was closed, I attempted to remove the battery to restart the phone. I successfully removed the back cover with no problem and pulled the "remove battery" tab to remove the battery. I was unaware that the battery had a ribbon attaching it to the phone with two screws and busted the ribbon. I called verizon to send me a replacement battery and I was told that the phone was not to be opened and that voided the warranty. I explained that I was not notified that the phone was not to be opened. I went to the local store and was told that all tech were let go. The employee continued to tell me that the phone was just like an iphone and was not to be opened. I explained to him that I do not own an iphone and do not know how it operates. I also told him how was I supposed to handle the situation of the frozen phone without removing the battery and he was clueless and continues to tell me that I destroyed the phone and needed to pay full price for a new phone because is was not under warranty because of the broken ribbon. I explained that I was not told that I would void warranty if the phone was opened. The CSR on the phone was unhelpful and the employee at the store was rude and unhelpful now I am out of a phone and paying for a service I am unable to use because of a faulty phone and system.

Thank you everyone for your feedback.
Jaime Flores, as everyone has stated, taking a phone apart voids your warranty. This should only be completed by the phone manufacturer. Our customer service is open 365 days a year (366 on leap years) from 6am-11pm local time. As others have mentioned, you can also contact Motorola, look on our support website or Motorola's website for questions on the phone. You can view the full user manual on our support page. In the future, pressing the power button and volume down keys for a few seconds will reboot the phone. Page 5 in the virtual manual (actual page 3) gives the disclaimer that this is a non-removable battery:
Note: This product uses a non-removable battery. The
battery should only be replaced by a Motorola-approved
service facility. Any attempt to remove or replace your
battery may damage the product and void your warranty.
If you have insurance, you can file an insurance claim with Asurion on phoneclaim.com. Otherwise, it will be your responsibility to purchase another phone or use your previous phone.

No device that I know that allows a user to access the battery doesn't have a removal battery panel to access the battery, as soon as you seen that the only way to access it required you to disassemble the device should have told you that it wasn't meant to be open.. Basically once you broke the seal on the device warranty was voided and there isn't anything you can say that will change this.
You cant get upset that you jumped the gun without researching because there has been a number of post about how to force reboot a device under the situation you experienced, it is a common practice that if a item is sealed its that way for a reason and in mostly all situation if you opened it you voided warranty.
No disrespect but you are in your situation because of a bad decision and its something you have to accept and chuck it up as a point learned and move on because I dont see any other outcome..

Under "Quick Tips" on Page 7 of the RAZR User Manual:

Press and hold both Power and the down volume key for up to 10 seconds.

Mine froze and I did a google search and learned the 'power/volume down' HOLD to reboot phone. There is NO WAY I would have pried my phone open. My stepson used to tear everything open and it never worked again. But he was on crack.
