I was listening to Pandora, enjoying my new phone, when the music just stopped, I was unable to restart the music so I tried reinstalling the app, but it would not let me install it. "Invalid package." So I turned off my phone, and now I can not get it back on. I tried the pwr key+volume down(several times.) thing but nothing. And even more alarming the phone is getting hot and it is not plugged in or powering on.

I might add, that is is getting alarmingly hot, and there is nothing I can do about it. The battery had about 50% when I powered it off.

What breezex said i would do but sometimes you have to press the buttons Let off and then re-do it again i have had to do this more than once with my Razr Maxx and it might not hurt hooking up the charger for about 20 min. but it should re-power up One thing i would do as well if you installed any Task Killers Remove them One app i would install is System Panel i've had this app since 2010 on many of my Android Phones it is i think one of the best tools to have on your Phone.. But give my suggestions a Try Let me know how it Turned out.. b33

I don't mean to be rude, because I appreciate the feedback, but if you read the OP, you'll see that I already tried the power button vaolum combo. Also, to the plugging it in suggestion. I can only see that damaging the phone even further, because again, refering back to the OP, the phone was getting very very hot, when it wasn't plugged in. It's only stopped getting hot, because, presumably, the battery completely died. And again, I mean no disrespect. However, now, because my battery was dead, I decided to plug it in to the wall charger, and the green led came on and stayed on. I still could not get the phone on. Holding down the power and volume button, caused the light blink as if I had a notifications. Holding down just the power causes the light to go off for a moment and then back on. And another change, now the led is a constant slow blink.
I plan on taking it back to verizon and getting a new replacement after class tomorrow, but I would still like figure out what is going on here. I have a long night of studying ahead of me, and I would like to be able to use my phone.

Sometimes it Just can be a bad phone: Hard to speculate but if the battery was getting very Hot it could be that one of the cells was failing i would look at the Razr Maxx HD as an alternative as it will extend out the length of time you can use the Phone.

Many people do not hold the power+volume key long enough and assume it is not working. That's the reason I suggested holding it down 10-30 seconds. Not that you didn't already try this procedure. Good luck.

Update: While charging my phone i noticed it getting hot again, and I also heard it making some noise, I wasnt sure if it was the phone, so i held it up to my ear and the noise got louder and then there was an audible pop. So I'm thinking I have a very very very sour lemon.
