yesterday evening my Droid razr got JB update.
After update, the phone won't show up home screen, instead it is continuously loading the boot screen.
i had a VERY LONG CONVERSATION(almost 2hours) to VZW cust supp guy & these are the options he gave.
1) i need to buy (with my MONEY) new/recertified device to continue in the service
2) i need to do an early upgrade & buy new phone.
UNTIL YESTERDAY MY IS WORKING PERFECTLY FINE (with ICS) & VZW OTA update bricked my phone &
THEY WANT ME TO PAY /EXTEND MY CONTRACT BECAUSE OF THEIR MISTAKE.
& THE customer support guy blames Motorola & google for bad software update.
which is not true BECAUSE THE UPDATE IS A CUSTOMISED ANDROID OF VZW not motorola or Google.
BUT STILL HE SAID HE CAN'T DO ANY THING.
I NEVER EXPECTED THIS FROM VZW & TOTALLY PISSED OFF.

Did they walk you through the factory reset using the recovery menu? Could you even boot the phone into the recovery menu?
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

My Motorola Droid Razr Maxx is working perfectly normal after the update to JB yesterday. I have been pleasantly surprised. I think the OP needs to realize there is nothing wrong with the update. It has been thoroughly soak tested. If you are having problems, either your phone is defective, your software is corrupted, or your apps are causing a problem. It has to be one or the other. Most people who have problems have modified their phones and did not get them back totally stock before doing the update. I would clear the cache, do a factory reset, and try again. If that doesn't work, I would do an early upgrade.

MY PHONE WAS WORKING PERFECTLY FINE TILL YESTERDAY EVENING/BEFORE SOFTWARE UPDATE.
WHY SHOULD I PAY FROM MY POCKET WHEN MY PHONE IS NOT USABLE BECAUSE OF THEIR SOFTWARE UPDATE/GLITCH.
THIS DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.....

Because there is nothing wrong with the update or everyone would have the same problem. Either your phone is defective, your software is corrupted, or there is a problem with your apps. I would guess something got corrupted during the download or update. That's why I suggested you clear the cache and do a factory reset then do the update again. That's exactly what I did with my phone about 2 weeks ago in preparation for the JB update and it worked flawlessly.

When you see the dead green android you are not finished. You are only part of the way to the cache clear and factory reset options.
Once you see the dead android:
Press the Volume UP and Down buttons together. (This part is tricky)
You will be presented with a screen with blue options.
Navigate with the UP/DOWN volume button and select with the PWR button.
See:
http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=49625
https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/800302
and substitute "wipe cache partion" for "factory data reset" to clear the cache.

Like I said It's tricky. The buttons have to be pushed at the same time. Try holding them down for three or four seconds before you release them. Maybe let someone else try it for you. My first time getting past the "Dead android" took me about 20 tries, now it's one or two.

Doing a Clearing of the System Cache involves doing this:
1. When the Screen is Dark Hold in Both Volume Up - N - Down Button's While doing that also press the Power button and hold for a Few at least 10 seconds till you see a the black screen with Recovery on it..
2.Scroll Down to Recovery with the Lower Volume once there immediately press the Volume Up Button there will be a Short Delay then the Black screen with the Red Motorola in the center of the screen will appear shortly there after Little Android Will appear on his Back Press both Volume Again till you see this:
3. Scroll down to WIPE Cache Partition.. press The Power Button when is says it's finished
4. Go to Reboot System it is in the First Line of the 5 selections were you see the White Band in the Photo i took ) once there Tap the Power Again and then leave the Phone alone it will do the Rest. And then it power Back on the Cache will be cleaned after this Process..

Do we have to do this everytime we want to just clear the cache? In the past, it was very simple to do....just go to settings, etc. Now we have to do all of this? I am NOT happy with Verizon!!

On Clearing the Cache JD i usually just do it once or twice a Month or when i feel the phone is really Lagging but a Soft Reset will do if it's a minor blooper..

Was your battery fully charged before you did the update?
