Droid Razr Maxx not getting data via my home WIFI??

It works once in a long while, but most of the time I can't get any data via wifi. Everything else wifi in my house works and when my friends come over with their iphones it works fine for them. I just got the phone the other day and I don't know what the problem is. Using a netgear router. on the phone it says the connection is excellent and I am connected @ 54 mbps via wpa/wpa2 psk. My router is on Auto 108 mbps on channel 6 and the IP says "get dynamically from isp". Should I switch to a static ip address? Anything there that pops out at you as the problem?? Or something else that would be an issue?

thanks

Are you getting an IP? Go to Menu, Settings, Wifi Settings and select your network.  If your IP starts with 169.x you are not getting an IP assigned.  Try rebooting your router.

If that all looks good, go to Menu, Settings, Data Manager and make sure Data enabled is checked.  Also, I would be sure Data Saver is off.

I am having the same problem. My IP address is 192.162xxx.  My droid says my wifi is Disabled, secured with WEP.  I ensured everything was good to go as you said, Sally, but still no joy. Anybody else?

I have this issue with all my moto phones from the Droid, X and MAXX. I ended up returning the MAXX and waiting for the S3 to arrive.

1st troubleshooting step, reboot your router.

2nd step, make sure your router is running the latest update. Some G networks are not compatible with moto devices. If you are on a b/g router, make sure you have it transmitting in a channel that is in the higher range, closer to the 90hz (aka channel 4-12). Channel 1 -3 will have issues, conflicts within the moto hardware again.

3rd, this might seem stupid... but what is the 3rd octet 192.168.1.x?? Reason i'm asking is that VZ LTE services uses a 192.168.x.x network too in some areas. This might cause problems/conflicts. iPhones are not 4G so they use a public IP Space.  Make sure you use 192.168.10.x or lower.

Thanks for the reply, nothere. 1. Already rebooted the router, nope.

2.  I'm on Channel 6 = 2.437GHz. I'm trying to I go higher to 11 = 2.462 GHz

3. 192.168.1.1 is what I've got. Are you saying I should manually change the IP to 192.168.10.1 ?

Is it anything to do with WEP vice WP2 security? Not sure how to change that on my router either. Jez, I feel like a Luddite
