I'm trying to sync my email accounts and it keeps telling me "sync error". I have all the information entered correctly. I recently hard reset my phone and not sure why it keeps telling me error. Has anybody ever had this issue?

You may want to do a search on this forum or look to the right under More Like This for similar threads. Yes, there are others experiencing e-mail sync issues, different phones and e-mail accounts. What the issue is and related fix seem to be up in the air at the moment, I'm afraid.

Yes, my email had been working perfectly until a few days ago (the email function provided with the Droid Razr Maxx HD)... Now I get a sync error message, and when I respond with requested information it will either tell me the username or password is incorrect, or that the server is not available, or it gives me another sync error message. It did work once after turning it on the other morning, but not since, even after deleting the email accounts and re-entering them. Email works fine on my laptop or with the Yahoo droid app...

I also have this problem with my Droid Razr Maxx HD with the same symptoms and messages described by nkrosby.
Started happening 2 days ago.....

I too have had the exact same issue with my Droid Razr Maxx HD. My yahoo email had been working perfectly for two months after I got the phone, but now it continually gives me sync errors and asks me to re-validate the account and then says my username or password is wrong, even though they are correct and working on the yahoo mail app and on computers.

There are at least four other threads noting similar issues about e-mail syncing, mainly Yahoo and AOL. You may want to try setting your e-mail account up as 'Other' or set Yahoo up as an IMAP account.
If you haven't seen the other threads:

Setting Yahoo and Hotmail email as "other" solved my problem and works perfect for me. Have a nice day.

Thanks for that tip, but my understanding is that if you do "other" instead of the yahoo option, then you can't get emails pushed to you instantaneously - it only checks for email every 15 minutes at best. I suppose I can live with that for a few days, but I was really hoping this issue would get fixed for good.

Yep, let's hope the issue is resolved soon. In the meantime, as far as workarounds, there's also the Yahoo Mail app in the Play Store, or set your Yahoo mail up as an IMAP account.

I too hope this issue is resolved soon.....but I wouldn't hold your breath. If memory serves me correct.....and I am old and my memory isn't what it used to be........I think this issue has been going on for nigh on to a year. Does anyone know if JB fixes this issue? Thanks

I wouldn't hold my breath on JB being the grand fix, either. I know at least one poster who had no issues with ICS on their Razr Maxx, but their Razr M with JB has e-mail sync issues.

tikibar1,
Thank you for your reply! I read the other threads that you linked to, and then set up my Yahoo account as "Other" as you suggested and it seems to be working now.
Indian,
I have only had this issue for approximately 3 days now, and my phone (Razr Maxx HD) was updated from ICS to JB about 3 weeks ago.....

Thank you for this answer! I've been having these issues with my Razr M for the last 4-5days and your suggestion has fixed my problem . I've read somewhere that Yahoo changed something and I wonder if that is causing these errors.

I may not be an expert, but it seems that the problem lies with the sign in. Yahoo and AOL use your ID not your email address for sign in. The My Accounts tries to use your email address and gives the incorrect sign in error. after setting up in My Accounts when trying to sign in open settings and enter account name as you would sign in through Yahoo. Or just use the Yahoo email app.

Please read through the posts on this thread; there is apparently a system issue going on with e-mails since it's affecting various phones with various e-mail services (but mostly Yahoo and AOL based on the posts), with some on ICS and some on JB.
Try setting your e-mail account(s) up under Other, or if you have Yahoo, download/install the Yahoo Mail app from Google Play.
