Can someone help me with my problem?

So I just bought a Droid Razr and I have had a good experience with it but, I can not use the email.  A message keeps popping which is," The Following error has prevented a successful connection: Unable to connect to imap.vzw.net.  [Read timed out]."

I am having this same issue with my Gmail.  I called Tech support today and they sent me to Moto, the issue was pushed to the level 2 tech support with Moto they remoted into my phone and was able to see the issue there self.  The agent took some screen shots and was going to push it up the ladder i should hear something back tomorrow.  She told me that this was being caused by something Verizon had changed hopefully they will get this fixed.

I am getting thesame message. It appears that I can send and receive email but the site does not syncronize. When I go directly into my google mail icon the system appears to be up to date. It is only happening with the @ email icon. Looks like it the sync taking place between google mail and Verizon maybe the issue. My @ email is con tinuing to build and not being synced..

I am having this same issue in March 2012.  Frustrating.

I think the issue is with Verizon Backup Assistant.  I've been having some issues with it and I checked my account on the website (google "verizon backup assistant website" for the link).  I found out that it was backing up all my gmail emails!   Go into Settings then choose "Sync Points" and uncheck the options relating to your email.  Note, if your having problems connecting, you still have to deal with the issue of your contacts not syncing.

the sync you're talking about un-checking is not for syncing ba & gmail but for syncing the gmail account elements with the phone, calendar, contacts & email.

ba will not duplicate a sync phone numbers are already in gmail.

ba will not sync email addresses, only phone numbers & you must add email address to ba manually.

Thanks for the clarification.  Do you know how I can stop it from backing up all my emails?  It's a feature I just don't need with a gmail account!

I'm having the same issue accessing my Hotmail account- mssg

" Connection error      The following error has prevented a successful connection: Incorrect username or password. Visit settings to correct.   [NO Mechanism not available] "

So I go to settings and reenter my password (which I've done probably 20 times today) and I get " Attention   Invalid credentials "

I'm a realtor so my email is CRITICAL to me....very frustrating.

I'm contacting support now if I can find a fix in some other threads

Had the same with my Razr Maxx.  I did a complete factory reset, despite having this phone less than two weeks.  It seems to have corrected the issue, but can't swear my life on it.

I did a factory reset today (had phone 2 weeks myself) and worked, somewhat- but I'm still having trouble sending emails from my phone using hotmail.  I'm going to a physical store tomorrow to see a tech.  Thanks for the reply~

re-entering the pw doesn't help, generally you have remove, then recreate the account.

Tried that-  it wouldn't even let me remove the account.  I really like this phone but I don't trust my emails are being sent out.  I KNOW most of them aren't-  earlier none of them were.

Thanks, but that's well beyond my expertise.  Seems to be working ok with a few hiccups since hard reboot.  I'm going to take it to a physical store if it starts acting up again.

Took well over an hour of total time to get it going again.  They (tier 2 tech support) told me it had to do with my phone being on wifi.  Apparently the Droid doesn't like that with regards to email.  Never had a problem with my blackberry.  Blackberry was incredibly efficient for email.

Thanks again~

I just bought my Droid Razor Maxx 14 days ago & this same problem is happening on my phone. It just started yesterday 6/21/12. Getting the same error messages with both AOL e-mail & gmail. First it's "No credentials" & I've checked & checked & the passwords I putting in are correct.  I can go to the computer & check the email with no problem.  I'm also getting "NO mechanism, not available" message. I called Verizon support & after an hour on the phone doing a factory re-set, it appeared to go away 3 hours later it was back.  I'm getting a little dark orange triangle at the top left side of the screen also.  I took the phone back to the Verizon store where I purchased it last night & of course the triangle went away & everything was working.  They changed the SIM card any way.  Worked fine all night & this morning all of the problems are back.  This is very frustrating & no one can seem to help.  It's quite a coincidence that a bunch of us are having the same problem around the same time frame.
